I have never done international shipping before and wanted to get some tips before I make common mistakes. How does it work? Is it just the same as your shipping in the states but pay more money? Which carrier should I use? etc etc I would greatly appreciate any tips!
1. Don't listed to all the people who will tell you it's not worth it. Decide that for yourself. 2. It's easy. 3. Use USPS. 4. Use a stryo shipper. 5. Fill in the customs form as follows: Gift, Collectible Glassware and $30 (anything else is a problem). 6. Pay the money (about $75 for 6 bombers). 7. Don't pay extra for speedy service. It doesn't matter. 8. Get a tracking number (ie: proof of delivery). 9. Wait 2 weeks for delivery. I've done about 75 of these and it really is a breeze. You just have to fill in a customs form and pay a bit more money. Don't be afraid of USPS either; the other carriers are absurdly expensive and it all works out the same. Above all, have a good time! The only other thing I'd add is to find out who the EMS partner is for the country you are shipping to. Then you can track the box once it enters the other country. http://www.ems.post/members-ems-cooperative
You will have to fill out a value for the contents. Put that value at about $30. Assuming you're shipping to Europe, anything over that will mean the receiver will have to pay taxes on the incoming goods. That's always annoying. Jeff
