That's great advice. Start them off easy and eventually introduce them to more styles, Cheers !!

It really has to do with how adventurous they are. I wouldn't waste any of my beer on my father-in-law. He drinks bud light 95% of the time and Budweiser the other 4.9 % when he wants something "high octane." He doesn't try new beers, but will often ask about what I'm drinking with questions about flavors, aromas, etc. I always offer him a sample, but he always declines.

Once, while out with him he tried to order a bud or bud light from a taproom. The barkeep said the closest they had was Bitburger, so he relented and tried a glass. He still mentions that "strong beer" we had in the taproom in SLO a few years ago.

Great intro beer, and if they like it there isn't much transition to other hoppy beers.

Personally I usually start with their other likes---coffee, tea, soda preferences, and some foods such as barbecued meats, Indian cuisine, and fruit preferences. From there it is pretty easy to build a simple palate towards brews that support their preferences. Love the Lobo icon by the way.....FRAG EM!

    Cheers
