Do you guys get Jever out there? It’s been in my fridge more than any other beer since I first had it last year.

Looks like a brewery trying to answer the question, "How many IPAs can one brewery make."

I think Other Half might have them beat, I looked once and it was something like 35 out of 40 beers to go were hoppy beers.

Hopefully your guess is correct. I was personally guessing it was a 15 month BBD.

    Cheers!

Did you ever get a chance to drink Victory St. Victorious?

Unfortunately that beer is no longer a regular/distributed beer but it was (and still is at the brewpub when pouring) an excellent Doppelbock.

    Cheers!

I haven't seen it. I'll take a look at the place with the biggest selection. I do remember hearing good things. Honestly, I catch myself wondering more and more often why I feel compelled to find new beers in a style that I already have 2 or 3 regional offerings that are excellent, fresh, and relatively affordable.

But I'm a beer geek so no doubt I will grab some jever even if its old and expensive :nerd::beers:

We have plenty here as well but none compare to Jever, in my opinion. Its so perfectly bitter, crystal clear, bone dry and has a perfect clean finish.

There is no domestic comparison that I have found or encountered previously.

Oh jeez you’re going to ruin the poor fella on Pilsners forever!

That’s fairly common in the US craft brewery scene today. Especially in the Northeast.

    See @jonphisher ’s post below…

Also, based on my very limited experience unlike OH non-IPA beers from TH do not suck. Speaking of OH, I believe last year they released more kinds of IPAs than days in a year.

Getting back on topic, it looks like there are more breweries interested in German beer styles. I'm currently drinking Tycho Anomaly - a great Schwarzbier from Brick & Feather Brewery in MA.

I've never had it, but judging by the other Victory beers I enjoyed living in DC (Prima and the Festbier), I trust their lager bonafides.

That's the challenge with beer recommendations in such a global community like ours -- it really makes me want to try other places things, even though I live far out of reach!

Their stouts are really what stands out in my opinion.

But regarding the topic at hand, Tree House has expanded their game to include lagers. I've heard good things, but I haven't had the chance to try them.

Trillium has done the same, starting to do lagers and even an English style here or there.

And of course they're both getting into seltzer...

    Good problem to have!

20 years ago you didn't have this "problem"...

An option here is to become a BA beer trader.

I have no opinion about their stouts since I'm not a big stout drinker. They are usually too strong and too sweet for my taste. I should've said OH lagers instead of non-IPAs.

[IMG] Thanks, Chuck. @CB_Michigan . I’m really happy with this beer. Very malty, excellent nutty notes. Plenty of bread and caramel notes and some sweet honey in the backend. Very good beer. Is it true to style? I’m not quite sure. It is however, a good beer to accompany the leaves changing. Cheers.

So glad that you liked it! I don't think it's true to style, but I do think it's an easy beer to like. I didn't find it to be all that sweet, but I did think it was overly hopped and somewhat lacking on the malt presence. I'll probably crack one open next week and see how it's doing (once I work my way through the armada of Oktos hitting store now, and the glut of IPAs in the fridge, and BA Lagerfest, and...). Man, I really wish there was a place nearby that sells singles.

Courtesy of Chuck, thanks again buddy.[IMG] This one actually has some bitterness to it. Also a very sharp feel, not so heavy as some of the other ones seem to be. I’m really happy with this one. I’ll take some other imported Marzen recommendations if anyone has something in mind. Cheers

You'll really like Paulaner Wiesn, HB Fest, and Weihenstephaner Fest.

Most of the imports you'll see with "Marzen" on the label will be the Amber style, but Weltenburger follows the German ABV designation for Marzen, this the lighter color and body.

I appreciate it! I really liked this beer and will keep an when out for the others. My luck they will probably be 2 years old when I find them :slight_smile:
