I am currently brewing all-grain with a friend and we are having a little issue hitting our gravity mark out of mashing. I am trying to find an iodine to do the iodine test and was wondering if anyone had a specific brand or type of iodine to use. I see lots of different types on amazon but I want to make sure I purchase the correct product to perform the iodine test and hopefully help get to the bottom of our issue.

    Thanks,

    Tim

Any iodine from a local drugstore will do.

    ^^^^what @TimoP said. Brand doesn't matter here.

Iodine test only tells you that you have degrades the starches, it does not tell you to what extent, nor the resulting fermentability. If you are missing your OG consistently, you might want to look at your crush and sparging techniques, etc.

Thank you for the suggestion. I did not realize that part of the test.
