If you are just recording dates and ingredients, why not just use the native "Notes" app that comes with the device?
BrewPal is a free app and might fit the bill. I can't recall if you're using a kit if those ingredients could be easily added, though, as you choose from a pre-selected list rather than inputting things yourself.
