So who going to be there this weekend I have my VIP tickets in hand! I do have to complain a bit though as I have yet to see a formal list of whose coming and whats on tap?? I have been prodding Peace Tree via face book to bring some of there BA goodies and it sounds like they will deliver! I also know TG chief is lurking here what do you plan on bringing? Any Iowa brewery's who are out there and see this. I Implore you to please spill the beans what is on tap for us loyal Iowa beer drinkers this weekend???

Unfortunately a good friend is having his bachelor party on Saturday and then Sunday is my anniversary (and father's day) so it didn't work well this year. Last year was pretty fun though and I can only imagine what Toppling Goliath and Peace Tree will bring and even Third Base had some fun barrel aged stuff last year. Hope you have a great time and have a drink for those of us who can't make it!

This is why I do not attend. If you cannot put togther a list I'd rather not spend my money sampling all the stuff I've already had. I'll go sit in El Bait or brew a batch of beer with that money. I'd love to support it but without the list it seems like it is just an event to see who can drink the most beers and be dammed with sampling,

Agreed. I looked for a list, couldn't find one, and immediately lost interest. 150 beers does not make a great fest. They could all be from Madhouse. jk

I Saw them pimping tickets on FB this afternoon and I told them to stop pimping tickets and print a list. they responded and said they will have one soon. They have 2 days left they better get on it.

Why would you not list the beers you know are going to be there, and keep updating?
Doesn't bode well for the event.
Hope I'm wrong, it's good for Des Moines.

I'd go if I knew it was worth my time and a $150 hotel stay.

Yes, that would not be so difficult. General list from the brewery, which is simple, and they can add specialties as they are updated or become aware.

I will be there. I just bought my GA tickets (VIP were sold out). I also looked online for a listing of breweries for a long time and couldn't find one. I decided to go mostly because I will be in town for an Iowa Cubs game and it seemed like a good way to spend the afternoon. Hopefully it's a good time!

I was a little sad to shock top on the list but at the same time I am excited to sample Tall Grass and Green Flash

I'm happy I'm not going. All of the major players I've had every beer on the list. The smaller ones like Twisted Vine, Angry Cedar, Toppling, Peace Tree, I've had all on the list except 1. Nothing appears to be too special- those that are enjoy the day- looks like the weather should be pretty good for this.

It's nice to see that they'll have things like Tallgrass and Green Flash on there. My wife can't drink anymore, so I've lost the person I used to go to these things with. :slight_frown: I won't be there this year, but maybe next year...

So how was it? I have had about 85% of the listed beer, but I am sure there had to be some special releases, right? I was disappointed to not get to try some of the new Iowa brewers, but hopefully they will make their way to the IC area soon.

All and all it was a pretty solid brew fest! I have a couple of complaints though first was that you did not get a bottle of water with your glass, most booths did not offer to rinse your glass and the Summit booth was staffed by two people that have never heard of Summit Brewing! And finally Back Pocket brewing had 3 people in there booth one was a close friend of the brewer and tried to answer my questions about the progress on there new brew house. The other two who were his friends laughed, pointed and made fun of me for asking some question about there capacity and plans for the future this was NOT COOL this is a craft beer fest and if your not into it you have no business manning a booth!! Peace Tree had some great special pours Templeton aged red and the brett cornucopia were both awesome! Worth brewing also had some specials but I missed those! The biggest surprise for me was Boone valley brewing from Boone Iowa. They have an really nice IPA that was on par with T.Gs golden nugget. All in all a good time besides the rain! I will most likely volunteer next year because we need people in the booths that enjoy beer as much as we do!

That is too bad about Back Pocket. I had a similar experience with them when visiting their taproom last week, indifferent staff (hopefully this will be corrected once they get their feet on the ground). Good to here that there may be another great IPA brewer coming up on the scene! I had the PT Templeton Red on tap in IC, but I really wanted to try the brett cornucopia, that sounded awesome. It would be nice to have people in the booths that know or at least care about beer, but what can you do? Thanks for the overview

That seems to be a problem that they don't want to, or haven't seen fit to address. My parents stopped going to the brewpub in McGregor because the staff, particularly the bartenders, were either indifferent or just plain ignoring them when they were there. Sorry, but their beer is nothing special to make someone put up with that attitude to keep returning. Hope they figure it out.
