Marion Hy-Vee had several Stone Espresso IRS, regular IRS, a few 4 packs of Founder's Imperial Stout, and about two cases of Love Child #3 for anybody that's looking for more of these.

 

I would say so.

 

Just had a 2011 Olde Bluehair. I was blown away. Best barrel aged Barley Wine I've had in a long time.

Is this beer a boozy mess or is it worth a shot?

 

I thought last year it was a hot mess. I bought a for pack & only drank one. I'm waiting until 6-18 to open another just to see what has happened to it. I doubt I'll buy it this year. YMMV tho, each palate is different.

 

if you're near El Bait shop or something I'd recommend asking for a sample. A lot cheaper than the 4-pack.

 

I agree that last year it was pretty bad.

 

Anyone know where and when to get RuinTen around Des Moines? I see that it is available in some markets already...

Has anyone seen any Prairie Noir in Iowa?

 

The only Prairie beer I've seen in Iowa so far has been Prairie Hop. You might tweet at Abu Nawas Beverage on Twitter and ask if they have gotten anything else from Prairie in yet, as I'm pretty sure they are the distributors here.

 

Winestyles has the Prairie Ale, maybe more - I think Kegstand has a couple different ones on tap, but not sure which ones.

 

Was the guy's name Zach that you spoke with? For being a small community, that store has got a killer selection.

 

I don't recall, their selection was as good as Pleasant Hill and Fleur in DsM (other than the occasional TG beers) - pretty amazing.

 

I heard a rumor this Prufrockstar guy is going to be in Cedar Rapids/Iowa City at the end of August. If there's any interest in having a tasting or setting up an in-person trade while I'm around, send me a message.

 

It has hit DSM... and its even in Council Bluffs now.
