You're not going to find any of that in hawaii if anything do what I didn't and pack a lot of beer you enjoy because you're looking at a bunch of Maui brewing co and similar. Theres just not much of a beer scene there. Beautiful place/biggest tourist trap city on earth but you wont find much there.
I've been there before and I totally agree. Hoping to find another Ba'er also on vacation that might want to trade ....
Go to Inu Island Ales. They have a great tap list and people who go there usually share some good beer.
You will find Modern Times here. Check out Village Bottle Shop; they have great/good beers on tap, bottles that can be opened and drank in-house, and bottle and cans to go. It'll probably be a reason Uber ride away if you're in Downtown. While you're at Village, you're in walking distance of Honolulu Beerworks and Waikiki Brewing Co. You won't find BL and Horus unless someone here wants to trade them. Not sure if @putonyourwalkingshoes is referring to Maui or Oahu when he said you won't find much here. Beer scene has improved a lot over the last 3 years. Oahu does have much more to offer, beer wise, than Maui.
Maui brewing was an overpriced TGIF. I enjoyed beer lab somewhat but from what I heard this was the best of the breweries and it still was rather mediocre. I really hope the beer scene improves. I see it never happening on the North Shore but in Waikiki idk if it has something to do with the "Hawaiian mafia" I hear you need blessings from to open up a business I doubt a player like modern times is ever going to open a hub there. Not saying that's a bad thing I just would have liked to see more than just simple beers produced at some of this breweries (with the exception of some of the sours and the hazy IPA I had at beer lab which needed a lot of work).
If you are planning on visiting Hawaii again and have Facebook, I'd recommend joining the "HI Beer Friends" group, you can see how the craft beer scene has really grown in Hawaii and also might have better luck with trades there. Cheers!
Had an awesome trip, village tap was great... Had modern times so that was great. Found Cantillon bottles for on-site consumption the whole foods bar. Went to inu isles, brought home several crowlers of inu punch Truly outstanding!
