For realz. The trader probably didn't categorize a 2month "old" bottle as old.

What they all said, two months is not "old" if you are a stickler for fresher beer than that then you should know to ask for it @brother_rebus

Depending on the IPA, 2 months could be way old or not old at all. But I don't know if I would go out of my way to trade for a 2 month old IPA.

Didnt want to start a new thread, but was interested in opinions.

I recently initiated a trade, and some IPA bombers ended up as part of the core trade. I mentioned that I had a preference for fresh IPAs (I didnt mention a number of days)

The trader mentioned two of them were "pretty fresh". So I added those, and then we discussed others. I thought freshness would be assumed.

The two he mentioned as pretty fresh were 40 and 70 days old. Two other bombers were from December 2014, and January 2015.

Am I in the wrong to be perturbed? I know I didnt mention an exact day count, but my thoughts were anything old than a month may warrant at least heads up, if someone requests 'fresh' ipas. But I made an assumption, and I guess thats why the saying exists...

Fresh is a relative word. To avoid a situation like this in the future get more exact information.

Yeah...this thread as exhibit A...freshness is in the taste buds of the consumer...best to be specific when discussing freshness in case you and your trade partner don't see eye to eye on that...

Yep, after thinking about it a bit more, the blame is on me. And in hindsight, the guy is relatively new to the site and trading, if his join date and trade count are an indication(but he mentioned his previous trades were IPAs). I just didnt think to be that specific. Lesson learned. Was an outstanding trader otherwise.
