    209 is 8/7 on non-leap years. Here's a good reference:

My favorite Arizona IPA that is bottled/canned hands down! Now I just hope Fate brewing keeps growing and someday starts to bottle/can because some of their stuff is on my top 10 list. They are just 30 minutes away or else I would probably just live there.

I say all the time that people underrate Stone IPA because of how widely available and well known it is. And I have been to 2 IPA blind tastings where I requested a fresh one be slipped into the lineup to prove to people it's better than they think. Both times, only the very top single IPAs beat it handily and beers like Finest Kind, Jai Alai, and Two Hearted all lost.

A beer named Hop shock? And they haven't received a cease and desist letter from InBev?

The code is easy to figure out, the problem is the black ink that Lagunitas uses. Drives me nuts. You could be looking right at it and still not see it. Someone buy them a vat of yellow ink.

There was a link posted above. The "219" in the date code is the 219th day of the year, out of 365 (non-Leap). The handy dandy chart shows Aug 7th.

Interesting. I'm not surprised Stone came out on top either. That being said, I feel as if blind taste tests, especially for IPAs, should be spread out. Maybe as spread out as an IPA per day. Palate fatigue can happen quickly with all those hops. And 2 oz. pours simply aren't enough to truly judge a beer.

Still though, very interesting and solid post.

Totally agree with post above, I did a blind test over four milk stouts, and a simple pretzel in between sips works wonders, but I get the point about "palate fatigue" when it comes to IPA's. Can be kind of hard to pick between them once you get going one after another.

60 minute is already a malty IPA to begin with, putting 5 months on it must've been a malt bomb.

Yea I did feel a little burnt out by the 6th one, the 2 oz each I figured would help out with that. Luckily I didn't go with Imperial IPAs.

I'll totally try the one a night idea though for some imperial IPAs and stouts and put it all together afterward, that's a great idea... and more economical too haha :sunglasses:

Speaking of Arizona IPAs - has anyone tried our next door neighbor New Mexico's Marble Brewery IPA? That stuff is great, definitely a competitor for Hop Knot.

Yea honestly I've always remembered the taste of DogfishHead before I even take the first sip because it's got such a distinctive malty flavor. 90 minute is the same way. I like it personally, it makes a nice contrast if you're on an IPA kick.

Another beer that's really malty and different is He'Brew's Bittersweet Lenny's R.I.P.A. So good...

Maybe your friend was being an asshole and lied about what beer was which.

Palate fatigue is a huge issue with IPA tastings. I did a blind tasting with 3 people with the following beers:
    Heady Topper
    Surly Abrasive
    Elevated IPA

I will tell you that after the Heady the Abrasive tasted funny and after the Abrasive the Heady tasted funny. After either of those 2 the Elevated tasted like nothing at all.

I'd make sure to have something good to cleanse you palate between samples.
