    Hey guys and gals!

So I'm looking to purchase some of the IPA style glassware, but I absolutely despise the Spiegelau Dogfish/SN glasses. They are extremely cheap in every sense of the word.

Does anyone know of any others that are made that are high quality?

I've been using my Duvel tulip glasses recently. I've only been able to break one, and I love the size.

    Thanks!!

What makes it extremely cheap? Being thin does not equate to cheap. I love the glass. Just a pain to clean.

they break extremely easy...come on...the 2 that I've broken I couldn't believe it. I've hit my other glasses at least 3 times as hard with no repercussions...

I think anything with a bowl to concentrate aroma is good for hoppy beers. I also like the Duvel a lot; my other go-to glass is the New Belgium globe, but I've used tekus, wine glasses, and snifters for IPAs/DIPAs too.

I use the Spiegelau Dogfish/SN glass when I'm just having one or two. And I am a bit paranoid about washing it, but I haven't broken it yet (*knocks wood*). If I'm involved in a drinking session, though, I'll opt for another choice.

I like the DFH Signature glass. Solid glass with a great base. One of my favorites.

You know it's fragile, why be rough with it?
I have not broken any of my Spiegelau glasses so far and use them multiple times a week.

The SN glasses are actually not cheap in any sense of the word...they are awesome to drink from and made the way really good glassware is made, for performance number one, not durability. Compare it to high end wine glasses....very thin and certainly not cheap. But, since you don't like it, the next best glass for me is a small tulip type glass like the one's they sell at Great Divide (http://shop.greatdivide.com/products/brussels-glass). After that, the Teku is nice to drink out of. I have a Duvel tulip, but for me the opening is too big and it feels strange.

Anyone buying specific glasses that thinks thin glass is cheap/undesirable has basically missed the entire point.

Besides the Speiglau / DFH glass, for IPAs I like the curved pint glasses. Sorry I don't have a photo or link, (on my phone right now) but I got mine at Maine Beer. It's probably the glass getting the most use right now.

I have a DFH and Surly one and rarely ever use it because I don't want to break a nail.. I mean the glass.

Ok. I posted a picture of those super heavy duty McDonalds/Disney glasses and it got deleted, "Reason: trolling". It was trolling... kind of, not really. It was more of a wordless response to OP that if he doesn't want his glass to break, get a thick glass.

There's a reason the glass is so thin. The thinner the glass, the longer your beer stays cold (don't ask how, it's just science stuff that I don't understand). People prefer IPAs cold, so, thin glass. FWIW, I've also broke one of mine too but I love drinking IPAs and APAs out of them.

In lieu of that, any glass where you can agitate easily that has a smaller mouth is what you're gonna want for an aroma experience.

I broke one of my spiegelau as well. I got this one last weekend and it has a similar shape/action but much more sturdy. Good for playing catch with or just using to drink beer

Funny how many use the Duvel glass, that's my go to glass as well! However, I actually prefer the snifter style that doesn't have the "flare" at the top. Unfortunately my last one broke, so until I get another one, it's all Duvel.
