IPA/IIPA Blind Tasting Anyone?

Looks fun. Haven't had Heady or Head Hunter. The other 4 are all pretty different from each other, I would like to think I would be able to tell them apart. The Alchemy Hour has got to be a little old for a blind tasting by now.

 

Keep us posted for sure.. what are the freshness dates on these? I know the Sucks has got to be getting up there in age.

I wanna go for Pliny and Sucks in the top 2. I've never had HT, HH or Alchemy Hour though so my opinion basically doesn't matter at this point.

Sucks is at a disadvantage considering they haven't released a batch since February or so.


Poor guy, must suck.

 

Same with Alchemy hour, its probably older than the Sucks.

Edit: nevermind the OP says the Alchemy has a best before 5/27 date so it was bottled on 2/27. Two months out isn't too bad.

 

Personally Heady and Head Hunter are my favorite outta that little grouping... But Heady is gonna stick out like a sore thumb on sight.. Are you actually gonna close your eyes or what? lol

 

Zombie Dust is an APA but yeah, still really good

You're going to have to literally blindfold your tasters otherwise they'll be able to pick Heady out like nothing.

I suspect that Sucks will be unfairly represented because it is getting old, same with Alchemy Hour.

 

Toss Palate Wrecker in the mix and let us know what happens...

 

heady will win...the sweet spot for heady is 2-4 weeks...the first 2 weeks are really bitter. Great line up though, I did a big one back in Nov and could do one now but Im just drinking whatever my hand grabs in the fridge now.

I have a sloo of chicago ipas/heady/pliney/alpine/Sucks/NN etc

I went to Sergio's over the Xmas holidays and they had a year old Hopslam.

Still - an awesome lineup. I'm interested in how Pliny, Alchemy, ZD, and Sucks plays out. Heady and Headhunter tastes different than those other 4 to me.

 

That's a great lineup, you need one of Pipeworks imperial IPA's in there too

From what I remember Alchemy was first. Followed by Heady and Pliny. Enjoy By scored high. But G-Bot last. Awesome tasting. Funny no bad ones just better.

I put ~2 week HT against 1.5 month old Pliny and Pliny rocked it.

also...there is no difference between HT "straight from the can" and from a glass. All that hop oil hullabaloo is garbage. You dont get the same scent drinking from the can. Even from a glass it's still not as good as Pliny.
