It tastes exactly like Alpine Pure Hoppiness, wish there was more.

Lagunitas Sucks should be around soon though, other than 2XIPA the regular line up of DIPA's available isn't so great, Hopsickle excluded.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I just tried Hoptimum and I think this is probably my favorite. Not one you could drink more than 3 of in a night, but an amazing beer. I've skipped over Jai-Alai a few times for some reason; I'm going to try that on my next trip to the store.

Lots of great labels mentioned so far. I'm an IPA lover. I prefer freshness over brand usually. I agree with one of the other posters. You've got one of the best IPAs locally, Jai Alai.

Are you buying beer in a supermarket or a beer store? Find the bottle shop that sells the most of the beers you like and buy your beer there. If they sell a lot, you can bet it will be fresh. Also, always, always buy cold, if possible. Beer ages a lot faster when stored warm. Nothing kills the delicate flavor of an IPA like warm aging. Also, ask the guys who work in the shop if they received anything new in this week. If no one in the shop can tell you, that's not a good sign.

I drink Southern Tier IX2PA (sic), Unita Hop Notch, because they put the bottling date right there on the bottle. I'm amazed these guys can get bottles to NC in 1 month from bottling. I drink Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin, b/c Lagunitas sells superfast here in NC so it's almost always fresh. Others, I'm cautious about.

I prefer hop flavor over bitterness. If you prefer bitterness over hop flavor, try more beers from Stone.

The 8-key is awfully close to the 9-key. Mistakes do happen.

Top 5 favorite in this order:

Stone Enjoy By 5-17-13 IPA didnt get a chance to taste the 4-20 version though :slight_frown:
    Knuckle sandwich from Bootleggers
Pliney the Elder from Russian River
Sculpin DIPA from Ballast Point Brewing Co.
Hop Shortage and Hoptologist from Knee Deep Brewing Co. couldn't decide between the 2 so i'll go with both.

You'll be able to find all of these in stores except the Stone Enjoy By IPA.
Most commonly found beer on the list will be either Sculpin DIPA or Hoptologist DIPA.
Love living in so-cal beer capital of America. Cheer's and Enjoy
