Does anyone know of any good stouts (fairly easy to get) that taste a little like an IPA? I know this is flat out weird, since these are both practically complete opposites. I was just thinking about it and it sounds like something cool and new to explore, something that would obviously take a lot of tweaking to get right

Have you never heard of Black IPA? Or there are lots of hoppy stouts like Victory's Storm King

I'm not exactly what you are going for, but I would recommend checking out Black IPA's. This is one of my favorite styles, I've only had a few but I would say Firestone's Wookey Jack and Boulevard's Grainstorm are a couple good ones to check out.

Yeah, I know what a black IPA is...
But that's basically an IPA that is somewhat more malty than a regular IPA. I'm talking about an IPA that has a malty/coffee/creamy taste/feel, more like a stout.

    Never tried storm king.

EDIT: you posted the above as I was typing an answer.

The first one that comes to mind for what you're looking for is Stone Dayman, though I was never able to get my hands on that

I like unita's dubhe black ipa. It's supposed to be somewhat coffeeish but i didn't really pick that up from it.

I don't know, I've had a lot of black IPAs that seemed pretty stouty to me. The line is very blurry. "Lighter" black IPAs are very comparable to lower abv stouts and the same goes for higher abv black IPAs and imperial stouts

Man, I just looked that up. Sounds exactly like what I want, of course it has to be a retired beer, though!

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I've only tried a small handful of black IPA's so I definitely need to try more and maybe I'll find what I'm looking for. For me at least, I don't see many around here.

This is probably the finest example of the style I know. Hoppy, roasty, chocolate, floral. Is it a black IPA or a stout? I don't know but it was an assault on your mouth that was over the top but excellent. I've still got a couple, maybe need to pop one

I found some "allegedly" online for sale. I bet the list hasn't been updated as they're only $5.99. Going to call the place tomorrow about it first.

The Dogfather by Laughing Dog Brewery, its aged in "old Bourbon-barrels" and goes for about $6.99 at Total Wine in a 22oz bomber. Its super hoppy and might be right up your alley!
