Another vote for Victory Stormking. Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast mentioned by @TheNightwatchman would probably fit the bill too.

I also agree with others that you should explore the black IPA category more. Black IPAs are not inherently more malty than a standard IPA, they just use dark malts instead of pale malts. However, I think dark roasted/smokey malts can interfere with one's ability to detect hop flavors, so I could see someone perceiving black IPAs as being as maltier than standard IPA, even if their IBUs were equal.

Aviator Cretacious Black IPA is kind of like an Irish stout mixed with an American IPA.

Avery's New World Porter is a great example of a hoppy porter/stout that isn't insanely strong at 6.7% ABV. The dry hopping makes all the difference.

I was thinking Russian Imperials too. Ten Fidy and Founders Imperial are my favorites. Both in the 90-100IBU range are pretty hoppy with great stout flavors and feel.

Blot out the sun is definitely the hoppiest stout I've ever had, also alpha klaus is the hoppiest porter I've ever had.

I don't believe that I've ever seen it, but I have a small family owned wine/beer/liquor shop near me and can practically ordered anything that he can get his hands on. I'll try it out, thanks

I agree with @WreckedPalate, Blot Out the Sun, but not worth the hefty price tag.

I actually came into this thread to recommend Weez. Perfect balance of hop and roast, imo.

Sweetwater Happy Ending stout - I believe Ohio just got SW distro. It's even dry hopped. I dislike this beer but black IPA's are my least favorite style. I like hoppy (bitter) stouts such as Expedition & FIS but do not like floral hoppy stouts such as Happy Ending.

Has anyone mentioned Troegs Impending Descent? This is a fantastic brew! Both rich and hoppy!!!

These three are pretty much the hoppiest of the hoppy "Imperial Stouts" that I've tasted.

Sixpoints Brewery, Diesel. I have not seen it in cans lately. It's heavy on the roasted barley and hoppy.

The closest thing that I can think of to what you are describing would be Distorter from Greenbush.

Not only is it pretty good, but it's inexpensive and it's canned. It makes its way to Philly, so i occasionally drink some.

I would also say something like Uinta Dubhe or Storm King like others have mentioned.

The dayman was ridiculously good released on st pattys day i was at two brothers the partnering brewery with stone. Two bomber limit but sat and drank it all afternoon. I plead with the reps from stone that were there and the brewers from two bros to do it again but they said it was very unlikely.
