I love IPAs. I drink los of them. Lots.

I like some of the higher alcohol content DIPAs and Imperials - but I find I prefer the good old IPA.

I find the imperial/DIPA can get syrupy. I also find the caloric I take of the DIPAs to be so high that it's not worth it. Plus, a couple DIPAs/imperials will put you down for the night.

    What do you think?

All of my favorite IPAs are on the heavier side (Odell, Torpedo) but I don't really care for DIPAs.

My vote is for IPA's I have found some pretty delicious DIPA's And as long as you drink less of them you should be fine with caloric intake but I'm one of those people who like to sit down with 2 or 3 beers in a night sometimes more. slowly and still walk away without being smashed. IPA's are also normally at a better price point. With that said I'll probably be killing Immoralite next week so yeah XD

I like doubles better than singles

I like singles better than tripples

The best imperial ipas are unlike any singles. There's more potential for hoppy deliciousness, but more room to mess up.

There's a place for both but I tend to prefer IPAs over DIPAs. To me. a lot of DIPAs are malty and sweet and verge on being Barleywines so they are not an everyday beer. IMO: Session IPAs > Pale Ales > IPAs > DIPAs > Barleywines

There are some APAs (psuedoSue) and session IPAs (Small Green Everything) more loaded with flavor than 90% of DIPAs. Then there's beers like Abrassive and Heady. So, depends on the beer.

Ive began to lean towards pales and IPAs the last couple years. Not to say there aren't some good doubles but basically the more hop juice flavor the better. Can't stomach the straight bitterness and sweetness of a many. The further away from beers like HiRes and Green Bullet the better.

Depends entirely on the beer, but seeing as I like to session a bit, a solid IPA will do the trick for me.

Slightly prefer DIPA, but in that 8-9% range. I could crush King Sue, Pliny the Elder, Abrasive and NE hops in that range all day. Love the packed flavor. That's not to say by any means that I couldn't crush Zombie Dust, Todd the Axe Man, Pseudo Sue and Space IPA all day long either.... I guess it just depends on the day.

    This after I just drank 6 PA/IPAs today. I guess it's a PA/IPA kind of day today.

Depends on the beer for me, my answer would be IPA, Many tasty 2IPA'S also depends on your palate preference , i like clean tasting hop forward less sweet IPA/DIPA, so my answer is both depending on the brewer

Due to ABV, I'd rather have more IPAs

I like the flavors of a well-done DIPA more than an IPA, but as stated it is easy to mess up. I've had plenty of IPAs with more hop balance than a few DIPAs. So for me it depends upon the beer. I usually don't have more than two at a time unless I'm splitting bottles with someone, so the ABV doesn't bother me too much.

For me I often find DIPAs overly malty and sweet.

    That being said:

Lagunitas Sucks is awesome. Ruination is awesome. Enjoy By is awesome.

However, I generally find myself enjoyIng the IPAs in the 5-7% range.

Then there are the Trappist beers - well, that's a whole different story with alcohol content.

I generally prefer single IPA's because sometimes the sweetness of DIPA's detracts from the flavors I like. Some DIPA's are not sweet and are amazing though and I still order them and buy them but not as often as an IPA.

DIPA's like Enjoy By and DirtWolf are ones I'd order/buy without hesitation though, so I'm really talking about unknown breweries beers.

A local favorite (bosque scale tipper) sits at 6.5%, along with another local favorite, elevated at 7.2%. The last few 8+%abv DIPAs have felt too sweet and as others have said, overly malty. I have slowly gone away from even wanting to trying them (including enjoy by which sits at 8.9%). When a 6.5% does eveyrthing I want out of a hoppy beer, those extra ABVs just seem useless..

Voted 5 to 7. But what I really strive for is that 6.5- 8% zone.
