Victory HopDevil, Heavy Seas Loose Cannon, Evolution Lot No. 3 and Schlafly Tasmanian IPA. Full flavored IPAs that are not too abrasive on the palate.

You haven't been following along if you can't mind the difference. The difference is as obvious as you misconception.

In addition to Deschutes Mirror Pond or Inversion (for a genuine IPA example), I find Lagunitas IPA to be plenty tasty and relatively unaggressive in the bitterness department.

Maybe try maltier ipas like harpoon ipa, celebaration, and 90min, but maybe ya just truly dont like ipa's. i dont like hefeweisens, but ill keep trying em because maybe ill find one i do like. Sounds like you don't like the style overall, but maybe there's that one ipa that might do it for ya.

I would recommend trying all the other IPA's that you haven't had already

I was the same way. I've been fighting the good fight though, to start liking them.

Like people said, start with pale ales. I recommend Mirror Pond

What is your favorite style now? I'd try to find something that splits the difference between that and an IPA.

Not an IPA, but Little Sumpin Sumpin from Lagunitas is what got my palate acquainted with the hop profile of IPAs. Belgian IPAs might be more doable too, like La Chouffe or Cali-Belgique.

I say keep pummeling yourself with any and all IPAs you can, and push past this little bump in the road.

Do you get Sweetwater distro? Their Whiplash is a white IPA and, from what I can tell, is very mellow compared to conventional hop forward IPAs.

I would get something from Maine, for example Mo. It's the best example of borderline between APA and IPA

I think you've sample more than enough top class IPAs already and clearly it may just not be a style for you. The only question is were most of these really fresh? An old/stale world class IPA is not a good beer at all. If you've drank all of those fresh then just give up and appreciate the other styles. Maybe revisit in 6-12 months as palets change. For me, I used to dislike Pale Ales for several years, but now I crave them for some reason.

This is the one and only time I'll suggest Bell's Two Hearted. Barely an IPA imho, more of a decently balanced pale ale.

Surly Abrasive for sure!! Really mellow and easy drinking, nice and light on the hops:slight_smile:

Really though, I do not care for most Belgian styles, so guess what I do not drink them. I do like quads but the rest come off just tasting like some sort of banana to me. Have had all the greats, just realized not my thing and that is ok.

On a different note, I can understand trying to force yourself to like IPAs in the current craft beer market, things have gotten a little crazy with the hops, not that I mind.

Two words, one beer for you, FORTUNATE ISLANDS. This is exactly what you are looking for. Technically it's a wheat beer, but hopped out. Absolutely delicious. My non-hop beer drinking friends all love it. Easy to get in California right now too. 10 bucks a 4 pack of cans.
