Speaking of "using-things-other-than-bottle-opener-to-open-your-beer" I was in a hotel in Boston for business and I didn't have my keys on me (which have an opener). So I needed to open up my six pack I had bought somehow. I used the towel rack to pry it off. Only spilled a little bit.

Interesting. Counter-top edges work well too.

Looks similar to a macbook charger as well. Will have to try it tonight!

What ever happened to just lining up the edge of the crown on a ledge and slappin' that sum'bitch off? Sure, sometimes you crack a bottle or bruise your hand but its all good clean fun.

That's what I normally do in a pinch. Good times.

A friend regularly did this in college until the lip of a bottle broke and he sliced almost completely through his tongue. Risk vs. reward is not in your favor on this one.

A friend of mine liked to get creative and show off. Until he tried using the lip of a jack daniels bottle. It broke and cut him pretty bad.

When I don't have a bottle opener I just use the cap of another beer to open it up. Works like a charm.

I cracked the lip of a bottle doing that once (it was a twist-off), so there was a broken bottle to deal with, too. Probably the last time I use(d) my teeth for such a chore

Potential bad thing of using your charger is if it breaks, those damn things are expensive. Nice out of the box thinking. Apple...it just works...for other things.

Things I've used in hotel rooms to open beer bottles:

Piece of paper (Folded many times)
    Door knob strike plate
    Dresser draw handle
    Counter top
    Bathroom drawer handle
Frame of the bed (metal rail)
    Towel rack
    TV remote
    Magazine spine

Just look for what looks to be the sturdiest thing in the room, though I really should just pack a key in my computer bag.

A simple unobtrusive bottle opener on your keychain works well, too.

    Seat belt buckle works also.
The best were 1968 and earlier. You could use those like a regular opener. After that one needed to used a knuckle to pry it off.

My wife keeps saying that, but I never listen. I have enough on my key chain as it is. I went from house key and car key to well on my way to janitor status and I don't much like it. Plus when I travel I don't always take the car keys with me so it wouldn't help much.
