Ok, so I've been into IIPA's big time lately. In addition I've been mainly grabbing bombers whenever I can, and I'm big on experimenting and trying new things. Ive been noticing that the 2nd beer is often more enjoyable so I've been leaving it out and letting it sit a bit longer than usual (20-30 mins) because for the time it takes me to drink the first beer its only about 15-20 mins. Maybe thats just how my buds are acting right now but...... My question is: does any one have any similar experience with these "room temp" IPA's?

For me cold IPAs taste best. I've had ones that are a little warmer and they are okay, but that first sip of an IPA fresh out of the fridge tastes the best to me.

Warm IPAs are okay. I always get more booze in warmer beer. They're really the best when cold.

I like my IPA's in the cellar temp range. Especially if it is a DIPA

As DIPAs warm up for me I get more alcohol, as well as more malt. I prefer to drink them below cellar temp, but not quite cold enough to turn the coors lite mountains blue.

Yes. I let my IPAs warm up before I enjoy them. (15-20 minutes out of the fridge). When I taste them fresh from the fridge, I can't taste anything. Warmed up, all the flavors are unlocked and then I can fully enjoy my beer.

I like 'em pretty cold...especially the doubles and triples...let 'em warm as I drink and get the whole flavor spectrum.

If you check temperature recommendations, many sites and books advise that you enjoy your IPAs - and especially DIPAs - toward the warmer end of the beer-drinking spectrum.

Me? I don't personally prefer them that way. I like most IPAs right out of the fridge, and if it warms a little as I slowly drink it (I'm a very slow sipper), then great. But I don't intentionally set aside IPAs, as a practice (the way I would a stout or Belgian that had been refrigerated).

I like to start things at 45-50 degrees F. Sometimes it's interesting to taste at 35 and let it warm up, but usually the flavours and aromas seem muted to me until about 50.

The nice thing about leisurely sipping at home is that I get to enjoy my beer warming up vs. being at a bar and knowing that I'm expected to drink up.

Room temperature is fine for the tail end of an IPA if I'm in my basement and it's 60°F.

But there's no way a room temperature of something like 75°F is a good taste for an IPA (or really, any beer).
