Is Burp castle NYC still open?

Burp Castle is worth a visit (when open) regardless of what specific beers are served. It's a quiet place to take refuge in the big city. We were last there in Dec. '19 after a foray to a Ukrainian Museum Christmas ornament making class. The day was SantaCon, and a few off-tour Santas showed up. They were fairly well behaved, but got shushed by the staff anyway. Early in the day we also had lunch at Streecha, which is so basic it's unique.

 

I wasn’t counting “Green” since it’s a different beer. I mentioned that Green came earlier.

 

I wonder if Duvel Moortgat has released a "how to pour Duvel into a plastic cup" video yet.

 

This Duvel Green glass on Amazon is very close to that. It's not cheap.

No joke, I’m actually quite enjoying my time lurking here. Learning a lot.

 

This must be a Filipino thing. My mom does this with everybody.

Burp Castle is still there, but as of 3 or 4 years ago they were no longer a Belgian beer specialty bar. They had about 10 various beers on tap and the beer cellar of Belgian bottles was gone. There is no reason to go there now.

 

Hopefully they still shush people at least? I'm very interested in the anthropological experience of a Belgian going to a faux-Belgian bar where Americans go to be shamed by other Americans for actlng too American.

 

And the additional angle of a Belgian coming from Belgium to seek out a Belgian beer at a Belgian beer bar that no longer serves Belgian beer.
