Is Heady Topper is cellarable? I have some coming my way and want to know if it will still be good by 7/27. I've heard that it doesn't last long and I want some opinions. Any guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!!

Keep it cold and it should be fine. I find the sweet spot for me to be a few weeks after canning. I've had cans that have been a few months old that haven't lost too much.

    Still good? Yeah.
As good as it used to be? No.

It should be fine for a month but just in case, send me a few cans so I can test it along with you.

I don't think saving it for a month is 'cellaring'.

It will be drinkable then for sure, but crack at least one when you first get them.

The only time the word cellar should be used regarding IPA's:

"Let me get a fresh Heady out of the fridge in the cellar" .

It's not really "cellarable" per se, but you can drink it at your leisure.

Easy to say when you live a reasonable distance from the cannery. We should all be so lucky to be able to say that whenever we want a beer :stuck_out_tongue:

OP, while the sweet spot for me is 2-4 weeks old or so, but honestly it's fine up to 2-3 months if kept cold. It holds up much better than many other IPAs.

The short answer is a resounding NO.

But one of the reasons I love the beer so much is the balance it has. Even at 1-2 weeks in the can it's still got a really solid malt base, that I'm sure John Kimmich put a ton of thought into. That being said, it's hard enough for me (and most people) to get my hands on that you should probably enjoy it as fresh as possible. But for the record, I bet once the hops fade the malt bill is still pretty tasty if you were to do some long term (6+ month) aging. Just not worth the trade off. But again, yours will be plenty good, if slightly less than optimal.

From what I have read IPAs are best drank fresh, I have to agree with the sentiment.
