Hey all. Is Mansfield Bitter still made? I couldn't find an entry for it on Beeradvocate, but I could find one on untapped. Seems like folks are still drinking it. I'm trying to find some for my mom. She lived in England for a few months back in the day and said all they ever had was Mansfield Bitter. She brought some bar towels back (pics below), they've got to be at least 50 years old. Any knowledge about the beer or brewery is appreciated. Better just tag @jesskidden now, ha.
Yes, Mansfield Original Bitter (3.9%) is still being brewed, AFAIK. It is available in kegs and cans, not in cask. I haven't had it myself though, at least not since I've started rating. Banks's Beer is now a brand owned by Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Co.
Cool, thanks. Anyone know how far is gets distributed? Is it just in England? Throughout Britain? Beyond?
Hi there im a collector of mansfield brewery items . i have 26 beer towels from the mansfield brewery on the walls of my home bar , and the mansfield ales red one is on my wanted list . would you considor selling it please . thanks shaun.
That's really cool, sounds like you've got quite the collection. I won't be able to part with mine, unfortunately. They are the last vestiges of my mom's time in England and I'd regret giving them up.
It is amongst the beers being discontinued after the Carlsberg acquisition of Marston's, so it may have ceased production already, and if not at some time this year. However Marston's closed the Mansfield brewery in 2002 and moved production to the now doomed Wolverhampton Bank's brewery, so I doubt it very closely resembles the original beer.
