Well . . . that would have been the admin's response, if I had posted it, but he's OK.

I do wonder, however, if everyone had said "no", would he have quit doing it?

I’ve mixed Brooklyn Chocolate Stout and Fuller’s Chocolate Stout with many different beers. Framboise Kriek. Troegs Mad Elf. Lagunitas Brown Shugga. Off the top of my head. I like the blend of the chocolate and cherry. I mixed an Allagash white with an OB Old Chub once...was pretty good actually.

I had 3 infected ‘15 BCBBW bottles. Maybe it’s the stubborn alcoholic in me but I mixed them with Sweet Baby Jesus and Spring House Chocolate peanut butter porter and they were actually borderline good. I thought the peanut butter cut the insane tartness pretty good.

I’ve made half-and-half’s with Guinness and Troegs pale ale, Sixpoint Cream and Nugget Nectar. I drank half-and-half’s pretty religiously throughout my 20s with Guinness and Murphy’s with Harp, Smithwicks and Boddington’s.

Keep mixing your beers, why not? If it tastes good to you...

Someone has to play right field! If you like it, it's good.

I've mixed Julius and Green, Green and Haze, just as delicious lol. However, at DLD 18 I mixed Chemtrail and Handjee (Chemjee) and it might have been the best liquid I've ever drank. Cheers to mixing!

My gut tells me not to blend - if that was a good idea a professional would have already done it. Still I wonder what would happen if I mixed my Black Tuesday with DFH Fort (both are over 5 years old) :stuck_out_tongue::astonished:
A crapload of strong shit? Wonder if others have done an 'extreme' blend?

Blending brews is acceptable, if not always particularly recommended. Honestly everything has it's place. I've had some well thought out and great black and tans, or even sour/stout combos. And I've also just blended random mediocre beers together in hopes of making them better, surprisingly sometimes they turn out to be ok. Hell I've even added bourbon, scotch, or rum to some boring stouts and porters creating a few positive results... I don't do any of those things often, but I'm not afraid to experiment in the right circumstances.

In the end do whatever you want with your brews. If it tastes good to you who cares what anyone else thinks?

I've heard of people mixing 120 Minute and World Wide Stout for a hella hot and high alcohol black and tan. I want to try it, but I also don't want to burn nearly $20 to try something experimental.

Personally, I don't see how it's different from drinking just a glass of one or the other, unless you're pouring two 18% ABV black and tans.

Stuff like this is what vlogs and YouTube channels are for.

If we lived closer, I'd have to go halfsies with you on this.

I recently blended Ommegang Blonde (which is kind of a weird sweet) with a Brooklyn Lager. Result? Excellent!

Here's a scenario for you all that happened to me the other day which could have been remedied by "mixing beer". Was at a store getting a growler fill and half way through the keg kicked. They asked me if I was alright paying for half which I agreed to. Turns out all the headspace in half full growler made the beer go flat on the drive home. So my question is do I tell them to pour out 32 oz of a really good local fresh hop DIPA? Do I mix it with something else and hope for the best? Or do I risk flat beer from an employee that doesn't properly cap a growler?

This is the only advice that really makes any sense.

I love mixing Other Half IPAs. If they won't do more mosaic/citra beers, I'll just make them on my own with how frequently they release single hop citra or mosaic beers!

Yep. I'm sure every one I ever ordered at the bar was Guinness and Bass.

I tried to make them at home with other pale ales and always screwed them up. Over time I stopped trying and stopped ordering them because I like pale ale more than stout. I wouldn't mind trying a well-made one again just for the hell of it.

Just get a Black and Tan at the bar, it's always delicious. Harpoon IPA and Guinness come to mind.

Thank you all for the great replies.
It seems that it is acceptable for many of us, while there are some combinations that are more acceptable and even Standard.
Then for others, A Craft beer may not have been crafted quite enough for our tastes and we combine it with another to make it more to our tastes.

The Guinness really takes the bite away, I'd recommend giving it a shot.
