Not sure I've ever had an infected beer, and before I cry wolf I want a little input. First, when I popped the top carbonation began to come out of the top. This is strange to me because this brewery often suffers from lack of carbonation (can you guess who?). Ok, so no big deal, now to the taste, almost like water with hay in it. This is supposed to be a wild ale and I'm not getting any of the flavors that most people experienced. Just doesn't seem right. Is this what infected beer acts like, or is this what the brewer intended and it's just not for me?

    Is it from Ranger Creek?

If you are drinking a wild ale, it will either have Brett which gives a farmhouse like character, or have a combination of bacteria. Which will give an intense puckering sour flavor. Infection is such an over used term on this site anymore, and really only means some unintended bacteria/yeast getting into a batch. I read someone say that Saison Dupont was infected because it tasted peppery:rolling_eyes: Though without more specifics on what the beer is, it is almost impossible to say. If it is a Flat Abbey, well they have had plenty of carbonation issues and infection issues. They also make lots of puckering sour wild ales. Though Carnevale and Red Barn are both very effervescent saisons that can gush. Both are very rustic and earthy.

Infections can manifest themselves in many different ways. Being thin and tasting like hay isn't necessarily an infection. What is the beer? For all I know it's supposed to taste like that.

It is JK Das Wanderkind. A lot of reviews have notes of noticeable sour and I'm just not getting it. Almost no flavor here.

Depends on the batch. Batch one was the only one that was sour. The other batches have been maybe slightly tart

That is not an infection, just the way the beer is suppose to be. Whether you like it or not, is entirely up to the individual.

You'll want to pick up Uberkind if you want sour. Or the aforementioned Batch 1 wunderkind.

Batch 1 of Das Wunderkind was quite tart, but they've turned it more into a saison now with only a slight tartness.

They actually blend young beer with older sour beer to make it the dry hop it to make that beer.

Das Uberkind is the older sour beer that is the base... and it should be coming out again sometime (prolly not too soon though... wouldn't expect it this year). Uberkind is also the base to Atrial Rubicite.
