Tent has gone up and down.. I got to box and bag some of my bottles and all corks the rest were left exposed. I was reassured by the exterminators the beers were safe to pop open and drink because Vikane was used and this gas leaves absolutely no residue. mudbug knows what he is talking about. I agree with him about some of these responses they are quite lavish lol. I drank a Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast from the group that was not boxed or bagged last night and it tasted as good as ever. Still alive after more than 12 hours I think its safe to say MY BEER IS SAFE. I would like to thank you all for your advice, assistance and opinions.

Good to hear the bugs are dead and you're alive. As a bonus you might sprout an extra appendage or two! :grinning:

Didn't they give you plastic bags to use? I'd double them up if you really can't get the beers out. At least take the corked beers, the others will be fine! Oh, but I would also wipe the bottles you leave down afterward, just in case any residue is indeed left behind.

It never will until people decide either to read the previous posts or it's deleted.

    Well, not yet, anyway.

    ____________

OK, since this "non-beer" thread is still up, I'm gonna tell my non-beer story.

Was living in a garden apartment and guy who lived in the adjacent apartment was obese, could barely walk. (I used to see him resting against my truck as he entered his apartment).

One day the maintenance crew came by and said, "Did you see the ambulance next door the other day? The old dude died and no one found him for days and the place is full of bugs. We have to fumigate the entire building."

I had a 5 gallon glass jug of homebrew fermenting and brought that to my parent's house. All my food and beer, and bedding I threw in various beer boxes and kept it in the back of my truck under the capped bed.

Afterwards, when I moved back in, I just threw the boxes of food in the pantry that backed up to the dead guy's place, figuring I'd re-shelve some other day.

After a while, every time I went into the pantry I'd smell --- something. It kept getting worse. "Goddam, is that gross or what? That's gotta be from the corpse. I'm moving out of this place (not an inexpensive joint, either)! And they better not give me a hard time about breaking the lease."

Then, one day, sorting through the beer case that held my soup, cereal and pasta, etc., for something to eat that night "that smell" got stronger... and I noticed the bottom of the box was damp. Found a can of sauerkraut that had been laying on its side, and had actually busted open at the side seam :grimacing:

Everyone in the south knows that palmetto bugs and water bugs aren't roaches. Right. Just make peace with them, leave food out overnight, and never turn on the light in the middle of the night. Remember: they're more afraid of you than you are of them.
