I usually have to hold it for a second day. I'm usually the only one drinking from the growler, and I just can't do it all in one day (unless I crack into it at noon or something)
As long as the seal was good from the brewer, and then screw the cap back tightly after each pour, I don't notice a huge difference the second night. If it sits any longer than that (like to a third day) it does lose carbonation and starts oxidizing, some styles more noticeably than others (IPAs way more than that barrel aged stout.)

I always noticed a drop in carbonation and loss of flavor due to oxidizing by the very next day. It was always enough to make me enjoy whatever it was considerably less, so that's why I personally do not do it.

A desperate college kid? That's funny. I live at home and have never attended a party my whole life, so your theory of me being a cliché college alcoholic just got shut down. My concern is wasting beer that someone took the time to craft and perfect, because I enjoy beer and what it takes to make it. I also posted BEFORE you posted your snobby little high-and-mighty speech that I would be dumping it. I am actually not going to dump it (I am going touse it for a hair rinse, look it up, it is good for your hair) because I do not want to waste it. But go ahead with your bad self if you paid attention to the thread you would see I have other alcohol in my possession so if I was so desperate as you say I would partake in that alcohol. Like I said I just do not like wasting something that should not be wasted. Have a good day and be so kind as to stay off my thread. Don't even know why I explained myself to you.

@Lexigirl1228 welcome to the site. In the future, keep the growler in the icebox when not using it. As people have mentioned, refrigeration helps preserve. Also you can spread the growler love over a couple of days, but after that it is going to start going downhill fast unless you have a growler that you can inject Co2 into to protect it.
