Hunkering down with Jamil Z. barley wine. It starts out a really great beer after about 3 months. It got candy sweet for a while and now it's starting to get some of that wonderful meaty flavor of a wine. It's been a fun beer and I'll need to make it again to see how it peaks because this keg isn't going to last.

No brewing here, either. Next firing up of the kettle will likely be on the 23rd, a continental pils of some sort. I may try the Dogfish Head "continuous hopping" treatment just for grins. Will be getting the starter going in a few days.

Just racking a sour saison and tending to the yeast ranch. Zythos/Chinook red ale next week, when it's in the balmy teens/twenties. Getting wimpy in my old age:slight_frown:

Thanks. I think you might have it slightly more difficult with me, having twins...but it's hard enough finding time to brew with the current one...so I know it isn't going to get easier with a 2nd.

Kegged my DIPA (that is really lacking in hop flavour - so I used 10 oz of dry hop to hopefully kick it up a notch) and participated in a 60 gallon batch of 1.110 RIS (aimed for 1.125 - but hey). They are doing 60 more gallons tomorrow but I don't know if I can make it out to that one...

Yep! This weekend is definitely out for me. Snowing like crazy all day and too much happening tomorrow. I too want at least two more brew days before the wife pops with the twins near February. Good luck!

I was supposed to brew my first attempt at cloning De Ranke XX Bitter, but Northern Brewer never shipped my ingredients that I ordered on 12/6, so my brew day's been postponed for a week.

I added 2oz of dry hops to my all centennial IPA and I brewed up a oatmeal stout during the snow yesterday.

Yesterday was the first brew day in a long time where nothing went wrong. Hit my numbers, no equipment malfunctions, no injuries.

As for brewing with children, I guess I am real fortunate as I have been able to brew twice since my second daughter was born a month ago.

    Cheers!

Injuries? knock on wood I haven't experienced any yet. I plan on brewing with children too. Just not quite as peaceful I would think.

Sparta NJ huh? You go to North jersey Home brew? I'm in Netcong

Injuries as in burning myself or cutting myself on something (I am notorious for grabbing the the brew kettle or cutting myself on the worm gears of my forever leaking wort chiller.)

I go to North Jersey homebrew on occasion but usually go to Cask and Kettle or Homebrew University.
