From a quick search, looks like around 256,000 BBL (300,000 hl).

Note the trend in this thread.
You're right on the mark. Plus it's interesting to note the almost religious sounding testimonies about buying local anyway.

Some beer is good, some is not, some you like, some you wont, regardless where it comes from.

    I prefer quality.
    I support local when possible.

A great local craft brewer wins my support every time.

That's a pretty respectable number, especially since I imagine most of their sales are in Bavaria. Still the size of an American craft brewer.

From what I can tell, though, Spaten is coming out a mega- brewery these days, probably along with several other brands- so these places can still put out a quality product if there is a market for it.

Do you prefer Mcdonalds over a backyard BBQ burger? I know where we came from all but I love where we are going!!!

Adjuncts are what they are,Yuengling my old standby is about half the price of my craft favs , and in my opinion is a solid beer, sometimes I get a adjunct thirst that only a sweet Miller High Life will satisfy, in the ecosystem of beer hive the adjuncts are the drones and the crafts are the queens, or stupid horseshit along those lines

I voted yes that I would buy a "craft" beer from a non craft brewer because some places just don't have a great selection. I would like to add that if food is being served, I would opt for a decent wine if GOOD beer was unavailable.

Though in principle, I prefer smaller, local businesses.

Voted yes. Not a fan of Leinenkugel's normal stuff, but their Big Eddy series isn't bad. That, and Blue Moon is usually my go-to if I'm stuck going to a restaurant that doesn't have any craft at all (thankfully, that's getting rare these days). The obvious Goose Island has already been mentioned, too. I like most of their stuff.

I'm a precision machinist, and the company I work for does work for a local distributor owned by AB InBev. While they are far from being our biggest customer, I do appreciate the work that they have for us.
There is a lot more to that product than the liquid in the bottle.

Well, it's not "that bad" in the same way that Ramen Noodles and Chicken McNuggets are not that bad. In comparison, I don't see any RamenNoodleAdvocate.com's or ChickenMcNuggetsAdvocate.com's gaining any steam. Perspective is everything.

No, I don't want to support a large brewery based on principal AND I don't believe a large brewery can produce craft beer, unless that large brewery bought out a craft brewery. In that case, I would no longer buy that beer. I support independent breweries who support me, and beer drinkers like me.

The thread title and the poll question don't quite work, but good beer is what it no matter whos name is on the can or bottle.

This question could make more sense if craft beer were defined, since everyone has a different definition. I like WSJ's definition: "Fewer than 6 million barrels a year. Also at least 75% independently owned and focused on traditional brewing methods and styles."

If the question means a beer that is brewed with traditional brewing methods, and no ingredients besides water, malt/barley, and hops, AND it is good, i would buy it from a brewer larger than 6 million barrels/year. However, I'm not aware of such a brewer / beer, and I also think it unlikely quality ingredients and craftsmenship would be implemented by a brewer whose primary business is focused on mass produced flavored drinks. Thus I voted NO.
