I have been trying to work out a trade since mid-August. In all fairness, I asked to change a part of the trade and the delay until now is partly a result of that change. However, there are also delays with this trader in general in terms of responsiveness. And I can tell he is reading the conversation because there is a feature that says "last read". I checked on the stats of this trader and he gets lots of positive feedback. Not sure what to do. Also, I am not saying he is a bad trader (so this may not be the right place to post this). I also don't want to sour the relationship since his feedback is so good. I am just not sure how to proceed.

This is the most recent timeline of events. Have not had a response since August 30.

Trader: Going over your list now. I am sure I will find something. Already have a ____________ to trade you.
    (August 30)

    Me: How is it looking?
    (Tuesday, Sept 6)

Me: [Made a proposal on some stuff from my list]

(Note: BA indicates Trader's Last read date: Yesterday at 10:49 PM, but no response)

Moved from Bad trader forum until the trader is named and the criteria is met.

I am assuming there is no formal trade request? I am sure these kinds of things happen all of the time, but this doesn't warrant a bad trader. I would say walk away from trade, but only thing is did he buy something specifically for your trade? Tell him if you don't hear from him by "x" date you are walking.

He claims to have bought and is in possession of stuff that I specifically requested for the trade. So, it is difficult to walk away. Should I jumpstart things with formalizing by a trade request? Maybe that would get things moving?

If he bought something for you, then don't just walk away yet. I would send him a message, tell him you would like to finalize trade, but if you don't hear back by a certain date you are walking. You could also send him a trade request, if he accepts, then he is on the hook for completing trade or risk bad feedback, if he ignores trade request then you can just walk away. But if you have not worked out exact details of trade, don't sent a trade request.

Touching on some things already mentioned but based on your original post there does not appear to have been an agreed upon trade. If so, there is nothing to formalize here by sending a trade request imo. The other party just says they are reviewing your list. It just looks like the other party is not being responsive enough to your satisfaction. I agree with jrnyc to let them know you want to finalize something quickly and if you don't hear back by a certain date you will move on.

I agree that you should notify him that you want to resolve this asap. Let him know too, that with communication dragging, you're not certain whether or not he wants to proceed.

Do not make a trade request when there is no formal agreement. IF he accepts it you're on the hook as much as he is. Things could get fugly fast.
