Im enjoying trading, however, since I'm new to the craft beer scene the trades I'm doing is to taste beers I've never had. Not to collect or trade back out. I live in NC and am trying to find something that's on the shelf that I can offer yet get easy.

That being said. I can get tenfidy easily. So my question is, does it have trade value? Is it a rarer distributed beer?

I'm looking to try beers from FFF, RR, CC and surly.

    Thanks
    Joe

Your profile says you are in Charlotte, I'd imagine at stores like Brawley's you could find much more attractive trade bait (local NC stuff, etc.) than Ten Fidy. Personally I've sent out Ten Fidy cans as extras. But on the other hand I'm sure you can find people who would be interested in getting a 4-pack.

Ten FIDY used to be a very tradeable beer, yes, but recently Oskar Blues has greatly expanded their distribution, so a number of place that did not receive Ten FIDY previously are now sitting on piles of it. For example, Oskar Blues came to Ohio late last year (middle of last year maybe?), and now I can walk in to any grocery store and pick up a four pack. That said, there are still some states that don't get it in distribution, so you should still be able to trade it a few places.

This website should help you figure out if the states you want to trade with get Oskar Blues distribution: www.seekabrew.com

Olde Hickory's limited release stouts are good for trades. Foothills Bourbon Peoples Porter is a good one, too; it won't get you anything rare, but it can fetch some nice shelf beers. There are also people who don't get the Bruery beers like Sour in the Rye, which just landed here.

Thanks guys. Just seems like what I have available on the shelf is common stuff.

I'm in NC, Foothills and Olde Hickory are easy to trade, I would never think of offering up Ten Fidy I would just assume it's too widely distributed and would be a shelf beer to most BA's. I've done all my trades offering up nothing but local stuff and I've tried every beer I've really wanted to try doing this.

I would trade for Ten Fidy for stuff like FFF shelf beers because I don't get Ten Fidy. The price of Ten Fidy is my only draw back. It's almost the same cost as a 4-pack of BCBS, but to me is not in the same league. To me it should be priced closer $12/ 4-pack.

On the other hand, I can buy a 4-pack of Founders Imp Stout for $10.49 and its just as good or not better than Ten Fidy and less than half the price when you factor in shipping.

Well thats pretty much what im looking to trade for. On shelf FFF or RR beers. Im not looking for super rare stuff just want to taste some beers from breweries I dont have access to out here. They run about $14-$15 a 4pk out here. Just trying to expand my horizons but also not trade out stuff i traded in since im in my taste everything phase not the collecting and rare phase.

I'd definitely do that trade with you at some time, but I have 4 TF in my fridge right now as a part of a larger trade I did recently. Throw it out there and I'm sure you'll get some bites. FT: Ten Fidy; ISO: FFF Shelf

Seekabrew currently lists about 21 states that do not have access to Oskar Blues. I'm sure there are people who would be interested in getting some, but like others have said it is an easy to get - shelf beer. You could only expect the same in return.

Yep, but there are tons of great "shelf" beers!
