Is there another IPA similar to Nelson?

    Yesss... This is a very good question. I recently, finally, tried it myself, and was completely shocked. Just wow. Never been to Alpine before, but after that growler I'm already thinking of how I can get back down ASAP.

    The Pupil from Societe is very similar. Not as good, but similar. I'm pretty sure they put some sort of illegal substance in there to make it taste so much better than any IPA I've ever had

    Alpine Nelson is my favorite California IPA. Of the beers I've tried, I can't think of one that is similar to Nelson though I haven't gone out looking for other IPA's brewed with Nelson Sauvin. At some point, I would like to work on a Nelson clone as a homebrew project.

    I second The Pupil - more like Nelson's younger brother, really. Another one for me is Flower Power. It's not available here, but try trading for it...and I've also seen it available online at some retailers.

    Cellarmaker's Hop Slangin has lots of nelson in it. It's similarish and quite good.

    Already hating myself for posting this, but check out Kismet by Mother Earth. It's my go to Nelson beer in that its actually available and comparable.

    Flower Power...which is available on the shelf out here is good and somewhat similar, but for me nothing touches Nelson. Damn near cried that they didn't have bottles when I visited Alpine earlier this year...

    Nelson is my desert island beer, besides DDG. I could drink that IPA all day and night. However, pupil is a wonderful delicious beer, and hands down a favorite, but I am not sure I'd compare. Nelson is a rye ipa and Pupil is not.
    Finding an IPA as crisp and delicious as Nelson is very difficult.
