We've been heading down to Alpine a couple times a year now for the last several years, returning with a large cooler full of growlers and bottles.

Duet and Nelson were always distinctly different beers to my palate - both awesome, but very different. The last couple trips though, I swear the Duet has a "hint" of that Nelson taste.

Duet features Simcoe and Amarillo hops, but no Nelson Sauvin or rye - so I can't figure out where the flavors would overlap.

Anyone else notice a slight "Nelson taste" in their Duet that started appearing a year or so ago?

No, I regularly pick up both and have never picked up any Nelson Sauvin tell tale hop profile in Duet. Now if you were lucky enough to grab some of the Gouden Vallei then you would be right, as there is a bit of Nelson Sauvin in that beauty. Did you happen to drink a Nelson and then a Duet ? Nelson will stick around for a while.

    Cheers.....

I've noticed Simcoe/Amarillo beers (at least Duet and Sclupin) do have almost a spice quality to them that reminds me of Nelson, but I can always tell the difference.
