Ok i live in Panama City, Panama. Temp here can be from 75 to 85 F most of the year. Thats why i decided to use a wyeas 3274 in my brew last time, is not cos i made it but i do enjoy the result. 5 weeks in the fermentor and 2 weeks carb. It came from 1053 to 1006. So i decided to make a new one, this time using a porter recipe but with the 3274 yeast.
It can be call a porter or is just a dark saison? Or a porter saison?

Btw i decided to use this yeast cos i dont have much room in my apartment and dont have an effective refrigeration method and this yeast turned out to be just great in this weather, so if it aint broken dont touch it.

I think the finished product will tell you what to call it. It'll probably end up being a dark saison, though.

Unless you are planning to enter it in a BJCP comp I would just call it a damn good beer.

I also brewed with WY3724 in the middle of the summer because of my lack of temperature control. It's a great yeast.

The BJCP made some pretty radical updates to their guidelines on Saison in the 2015 style guide. What might be pertinent to you is that brewers now need to specify whether their saison is Pale (SRM 5-14) or Dark (SRM 14-22). Various styles of Porter, on the other hand, range from 20-40 SRM.

Moral of the story: depending on your recipe, you might fall within the BJCP guidelines for a "Dark Saison." Call it whatever you like, but if you decide to enter it in a competition, I would probably enter it in the Saison category.

Yeah. Wyeast 3724. My bad i misstype the numbers but is a great yeast. Just have to be patient and shake the tank from time to time.

But you guys are right, im just brewing for fun and i was curious cos some people ask about the beer type im making and well is hard to tell sometimes. But yeah for now it will be a great beer.

If going by BJCP styles... By the old guidelines I'd say Belgian Specialty Ale (Belgian Stout), new guidelines would be Specialty Beer (Mixed Style), although depending on the finished product, you might be able to sneak it into the Saison (Dark) catagory.
