Well, one man's bad is another man's good (at least sometimes). With regards to VDMBA, its BA ratings do suggest a "less-than-ideal bug" may be involved.

VDMBA = Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale.

Whether you toss it depends entirely on whether you want to drink it.

Why didn't you use mouthwash as mouthwash? This is getting stranger by the minute.

Smokey is indicative of major phenolic contamination, which is generally not desirable. For me, this is one of the most offensive off flavors, so I could might have simply posted "smokey => drain pour". However, smokey typically comes from phenolics, which in large amount are typically generated by an infection, which is pretty much confirmed by your picture. Thus "smokey => very phenolic => bad bug". Or perhaps I should have written "smokey + picture => very phenolic + bad bugs."

Whether you drink it or not is entirely up to you; it's your brew and your taste buds.

On the plus side, it appears that you have nowhere to go but up.

Gotcha. Yeah I think I brewed the equivalent of taking a can of paint and throwing it canvas and walking away.

I'm not going to blame that abortion of a beer on any accidental microorganism contamination - that vomit was crafted!
