Is this sketchy, or is it just me?

I would like to get some opinions on this trading situation that seems a little sketchy. I posted a trade looking for Vanilla in exchange for Alchemist truck sale stuff and a small list, and I got message from a guy who commented on my post. His initial message made it very clear I had what he was looking for and this deal could happen. However, as our conversation continued, he stopped responding to messages (even though he read them), and I kept seeing him respond to posts in the FT section offering up similar things to other people. He's commented on like 7 in the past few hours. He also wouldn't respond when I asked him multiple times if he still wanted to pursue this trade with me, and read the message each time. I thought this was weird, and then remembered this very same guy messaged me about a week ago out of the blue offering up Vanilla in exchange for truck sale stuff I had posted on my Gots, to which I replied immediately to. He stopped responding to that as well, and then told me it was closed, ONLY after I inquired a day later, which I thought was strange considering he messaged me first.

To me this seems a little fishy and maybe a sort of an auction type scenario, since he's responded to about 10 threads in the last few days... not necessarily against the rules what he is doing, I don't think, but it really seems pretty sketchy and inconsiderate to me.

I also found a thread he created on getting the most for his Vanilla and Prop. Hoping to get some opinions on this situation, and I definitely am a bit wary of trading with him. I'm sure this has happened to other people, so I want to know if this is just poor communication and part of dealing with people on here, or maybe I'm reading into it too much. Thanks.

It sounds like this guy has something that you really want (Vanilla), so you're looking to convince yourself that pursuing it would be ok, even though his behavior is not that of a good trader. Only you can make that decision. Is the hassle of dealing with an (at best) inconsiderate, or (at worst) totally sketchy person worth it to get that Vanilla?

No. The answer to whether or not you should continue with this guy is no.

@CSO yeah, I was not planning on trading with him, especially after I found the thread he created about trying to get the very most for his bottles in what is obviously an auction among different traders on his part.

@mertzhb15 Good on you. Sometimes the temptation to get that beer we really, really want causes us to turn a blind eye to crappy behavior. I'm glad you didn't fall into that trap.

    Cheers!

@CSO yeah, the behavior in this situation is pretty crappy to say the least. I also want every guy he's messaged or commented on an FT to be aware of the situation and not to let this continue.

Auction posts in trading forum are against the rules here, so if that is truly happening, report the post. Other than that stay away from this guy. Some people on here trade their beer like they are buying and selling stock. They may maximize every last ounce of beer and win in short term, but in long term those of us who trade for the sake of sharing good beer and making long term friends and trading partners, we win.
