Yes, but If I had to wait more than 1 hour for it no. For a 10%+ IPA that bad boy goes down smooth.

Drank 48 oz of Pty @ $7 a pop and waited 10 minutes, so of course I'll say it's worth it and to reiterate there are a good amount of venues that carry it and don't do the whole social media/raffle aspect of it. Just stay true to your local watering hole and you will eventually find out when they tap it.

Would be interesting to try it side-by-side with Thruster. Oh, and that Monkey Paw Miriqui IIIPA was fan-tastic!

Younger is probably the most overrated beer on the planet. Is it good? Yes. Is it really any better than fresh Simtra? No. Is it better than any Alpine IPA? No.

I was thinking about heading to the Surly Goat on Thurs. for their tapping.

However, as many people had mentioned above, I really don't want to wait that long (25+mins?)

I've never been to an event there, and don't have any passport perks.

Anyone who has gone before/been to events before think its worth leaving work early for? Or the line will just be too big?

...never had it before..but realllyyyyy hate lines

I still think it's great beer. What does it for me is the mouthfeel and the beer's ability to hide alcohol well making it deceptive in its drinkability. There have been newer triple IPAs which people love to herald as blowing Younger out of the water but I disagree due to those beers usually being boozy and syrupy. Don't wait in line for hours. As others have said, if you pay attention to the social media sites of certain bars, you can get pours with little hassle.

I had thruster there on Saturday and it was definitely a treat!

I'll quote my own post from another thread on Younger.

I would say it's worth jumping through hoops once. Once. If you really want it, it's probably better to wait a while with at least one friend and get it then hold out for a better situation and that never happens, but IMO only for the first try. After that, you can decide. It's definitely not worth any kind of long line or crazily packed bar for me, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out what is. I had it every year from '09 until last year (in Philly) and appear to have missed out this year, but I'm not bothered by that.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I had a 10oz pour (for $6 which was nice) last week and I was supremely disappointed. It was my first time trying Younger and it was just incredibly grassy and bitter, to the point where the last sip had to be thrown like a shot of cheap well tequila. Worth trying, definitely, but dont believe the hype.

I think I've been chasing that elusive first sip experience I had five years ago with Younger, and each subsequent year I'm disappointed. Whether it is in fact the industry catching up to them or my palate changing over the years or both, it hasn't come close since. In recent years I've looked for low key tappings to get a taste and haven't yet waited in a line but I can't help but think it isn't what it used to be. I think next year will the first I don't make an effort to drink some.

I posted another thread asking the same question, and was fortunate enough to go to Russian River and try it there. The wait was only 1h45min in the afternoon. Seeing as I'm not an IPA guy, I approach this with a bias.

I did a side by side with Elder and what I found was that Younger was smoother, didn't have a sharp bite at the end, and had a much better mouth feel.

Was it worth the wait for me? Not really. Was it a good beer? Absolutely, especially as a person who's not a hop head like most west coasters.

Long story short, it was nice to cross this off my bucket list, which I didn't even know it was on.

Your facts are nuts. Beachwood sold 3,060 raffle tickets at $5 each; 170 winners get a pint, no further purchase necessary.

Younger is excellent and definitely worth waiting for if you are with a group of friends. I had it three times this year at two different bars, same as last year. No regrets, and will wait for it next year as well.

I had fun at Toronado SD's morning release last year, and got to meet a few Beer Advocate regulars there. Did I enjoy the Younger? Sure. Had I known it wasn't that busy at 10:30 Tuesday last week I would have gone this year as well, but perhaps it's a better thing that I didn't. Preparing for a job interview vs. Younger - hmmmmm...

The trick is to just not follow the craziness. Father's Office Culver tapped it with nothing more than a twitter post.
