......is one of the many sour/wild ales I'll be bringing along to a bachelor party weekend in Lake Tahoe...this weekend. Besides the most recent reviews, has anyone had it recently...how is it holding up?
I never understand these "I'm going to be drinking beer "X" shortly, how is it holding up?" threads. Did you consider it might provide more value to the forum to wait two days until after you drink it and then tell the rest of us how its holding up? Or is this just a BA version of humblebrag?
I've only had it once, at Sour & Bitter, and it was the worst beer I had that night. I know it was going up against some heavy hitters, but I didn't really think it was all that great. So my guess is that it has nose-dived off the American Wild cliff, but maybe it was just never my thing.
It's a surprise for my best friend...the best man, so I was trying to decide to open it up first or wait until the end....which is why I'd like to know how it was tasting. With the amount of sours we'll be having, I didn't want our palates dead by the time we got to Isabelle.
Right on. At this point I think I'll open it up first....to get rid of any disappointment early if any.
I had it this year against Deviation and Veritas 004 and it was my favorite beer of the night by far. Wish I had a case of it.
You should definitely NOT have it at the end. I wouldn't want to wake up the next day and say, "hey, did we drink that Izzy last night?"
Yeah, drink it first regardless. I'll trade you a spot at your bachelor party for a spot at the one I'm throwing for my friend in July. Weekend in Portland with boats and jet skis, and hopefully Cascade waits to release Figaro that weekend ; )
I hate these posts as well. If he really wanted an answer he could look at the reviews that have been posted over the last few months and see what people have said. It ranks right up there with: " I am having a tasting with (fill in 10 whales) what order should I drink them in?"
Isabelle is one of the few american wilds I think can hold it's ground through extended aging. I haven't had it in a while but I'd say it is still good. Drink it first.
