Just as an FYI, unless you already knew, Maple trades way above GS.

That’s funny. Do you have any proof or do you always blindly assign high value to your local beers?

    You think I am local?

And, yes. Complete trades. Never ever seen Maple trade close to GS.

So no on the proof? Screenshot? Closed trade links? Anything? I looked and didn’t see anything. Where do you pull you valuations from so I don’t waste your time anymore and I will be able to know the high value of central waters in the future

You do realize this isn’t the OP talking about trade values? It’s someone from Indiana that’s most likely agnostic as to whether or not OP “wins” the trade, just stating his experience.

Not trying to be a dick here but after you guys schooled me I figured I’d see if you were right. Threw up a ft: Gs iso: maple on Facebook and it closed in a couple hours. Maybe that should be updated? For what it’s worth

Nice work. I've never seen that happen. That said, just because I've never seen it, along with everyone else in this thread, doesn't mean it's not possible. I've landed some insane trades, and I've given up way more than I needed to in some trades. Looks like you got a good trade. Even if we were going by secondary value (like you said you always do) GS would still fall short of maple. For what it's worth.

All I’m asking is for you guys to tell me where to find these secondary values on Maple that you keep talking about. Can you just give me a link so I don’t waste any more of your time? Or are you saying the beer advocate completed trade spot is how you judge secondary sale value?

Lots of us on here so not "do" secondary. If you check the trade talk subforum, you'll find.l a thread on the first page discussing this where I have been very vocal.

Yes, completed trades are 1 way, another is by just seeing trades get completed on here and seeing what everything closes for.

As an example of an uncommon trade that can happen, there was an IP MN trade where someone offered FO for GS. That's very abnormal. Very few would complete that trade in reverse. It's an exception not the rule. There's a reason you yourself lept at the offer.

Personally, I gather it from so many different sources, and make an educated guess as to what the perceived value is. There is never a exact number/value, it's more of a feel thing. Here is what I check before posting:

    - Completed trades thread, and ISO/FT forums (where I get most of my info)
    - Various FB groups I am in.
    - Secondary value from various sale sites and FB Groups.
    - I inquire with my friends around the country to gather information as to what beers are trading for in their area.
    - Thread responses in this forum (such as this one). The fact that there are people from all over the country (in this thread specifically) saying the same thing is a pretty good indicator that your initial offer and assessment is off. Threads in ISO/FT rarely have any responses, nor do they have as many views as this one.

I am not trying to hype up the value of the beer in question; I'm attempting to gauge it's worth. At the end of the day, a beer is "worth" what someone is willing to pay/trade for it. So, yeah, I guess to someone, it's worth a GS. To me, it's not.

At any rate, I closed a portion of this yesterday. If it helps, here's what the trade was:

    Him:
    RFI
    Space Trace (2018)
    Dark Star November

    Me:
BG 17 (about equal to maple from what I can tell)
    XX
    Coffee Vlad
    CW Vanilla Bean Stout
Mixed 6er of locals he misses (cause he moved out of state and wants the local stuff he can no longer get)

Thanks, that makes sense. I basically do the same thing. I just have never been paying attention to maple since I never have been iso until this post made me look at it and it sounds like it could be good so I wanted to try it. When I looked around on all of the secondary sale sites I know of I couldn’t find anything on it so I couldn’t form any opinion of a trade value. Just wanted to be able to reference the secondary sale value the op kept mentioning for my stuff in the future. All I’ll say is that this Maple better be worth all this typing on my phone I’ve been doing researching it
