ISO California ONLY brews

California is kind of big, where will you be going? What styles are you looking for? I take it from your user name you are from St Louis. Do you want beers not available to you, or beers literally only available in CA?

 

still not sure what area you will be in. The best bet is look up a small local brewery here. You can also look at this site

 

Head to Flavor Bistro in Santa Rosa and have all the Moonlight beers they have to offer.

Could be a hike since he/she is 3ish hours north of LA. That's either central coast or the middle of nowhere off the 5.

C'mon everyone, quit beating around the bush and post your craft beer recommendations for Delano, CA...

 

Depends how fast you drive and what Highway you take to get 3 hours north of LA. But that generally puts you in the 805 area code or Middle of nowhere. The 805 Area code is a dead zone for distribution. I think Figueroa Mountain in Buelton is California only. Which is about 3 hours north of LA.

 

Alpine, Drake's and Kern River are three of the better California-only breweries IMO, but you're likely to have difficulties finding any of them around the Central Coast.

pretty sure this is distributed widely outside of CA.

EDIT: maybe not widely but to at least 6 other states.

 

Sometimes it takes 3 hours to get to North Hollywood.

 

I willing to give a break to a fellow St. Louisian but you have to be more specific, and to top it off not being a distributor I don't know which beers are NOT available outside of CA-hit some brew pubs and those will not likely be available outside of Cali.

I'm pretty sure all of the brew is draft only but they make darn tasty stuff. Not to mention it's often found in places with delicious food. I'd recommend Highland Park's "Maximiliano's". Grab a fingerling potato pizza & pint of Craftsman while you're there. Cheers!

 

Visist Creekside brewing, they are in SLO. Other options would be Hollister in Goleta, Figeroa Mountain in Buelton (also a Firestone Walker Tap room there)

 

Kern River makes it in limited quantity to shops in Cambria and Pismo.

 

sours that should be available in the area are Consecration, Supplication, and maybe Temptation. Though these might not make it to your area they are distributed out side of Cali to a few states. I do highly recommend these beers even though they can be found outside of Cali.
