Our league is looking for one owner to take over a neglected team. I'm not going to lie, it's a project. And the buy-in for the league is top-notch beer. This is not the right opportunity for everyone, but if you're an active fantasy baseball manager looking for a fun league and a good challenge, send me a PM. Cheers, Dave
Not that bad, and actually not as bad as I thought. The team finished 11th out of 12 but was not actively managed. The roster and keeper options are posted below. We have 40-man rosters. You are allowed to keep an unlimited # of players under 30 years old and 3 players who are 30+. Can keep all of the following: David Dahl Francisco Lindor Nick Williams Aaron Nola Bryce Harper Kaleb Cowart Dalton Pompey Aaron Sanchez Tyler Austin Jonathan Villar Kolten Wong Jackie Bradley Jr Hak-Ju Lee Yasmani Grandal Elvis Andrus Ben Revere Wilin Rosario Derek Norris Tommy Medica Addison Reed Pablo Sandoval Pedro Alvarez Yovani Gallardo Felix Hernandez Can keep 3 of the following: Asdrubal Cabrera Eric Young Jr Johnny Cueto Clay Buchholz Anibal Sanchez Joe Mauer Doug Fister Scott Kazmir Shin-Soo Choo Jered Weaver Michael Morse Carl Crawford Francisco Rodriguez Carlos Beltran Koji Uehara There are probably people in the league willing to trade you some better 30+ guys too.
As for beers, here are the buy-ins from last year. Draft order is determined 50% by standings, 50% by an anonymous vote on quality of buy-in. Buy-ins won't be due until around the end of the season. We take an anonymous vote, ranking each player's buy-in. The ranking of your buy-in is given 50% weight in determining where you draft next season, along with 50% weight for where you finish in regular season standings. As you can see, it encourages some pretty good buy-ins. Payouts as follows: Playoff Winner 5 boxes Regular Season Winner 3 boxes Playoff Runner-Up 3 boxes Consolation Bracket Winner 1 box Box selection order: 1. Playoff Winner 2. Regular Season Winner 3. Playoff Runner-Up 4. Playoff Winner 5. Regular Season Winner 6 Playoff Runner-Up 7. Consolation Bracket Winner 8. Playoff Winner 9. Regular Season Winner 10. Playoff Runner-Up 11. Playoff Winner 12. Playoff Winner
What typically goes into the box in terms of value? Based on what I see from that team, most likely the first year is a bust. Basically I live in Boston and obviously have access to New England to an extent. I don't have the luxury of hitting up a big release on a week day with the extent of Trillium.
There is no standard for "value" of a box. You can look at the boxes I posted above to see what people put in. I suppose you could say there is an expectation to offer something in that range, but like I said we all rank each others' boxes and it is factored into your draft position for next year. Plenty of people will use early draft picks to take prospects, so there's no reason you can't draft to compete this year.
