I'm a big fan of lagers, and lean towards the pale. Looking for craft lagers that are readily available for purchase in the Denver area to fill my needs/go to slot in my fridge. Preferably Colorado offerings, but I'd be open to regional suggestions too.

    Thanks in advance.

Funny enough, we don’t have all that many that make it to bottles or cans. Hopefully someday Prost might go that route, but I don’t think it’s in the current plan.

Backcountry Pils and Maibock are both really nice and bottled. Grimm Brothers bottles their dunkel, and it’s a favorite of mine. AC Golden produces Colorado Native in bottles + cans. Their “pils’ish” Herman Joseph’s Reserve is also in bottles. I really like that one. Fort Collins bottles 1900 (amber), a Maibock, and a smoked doppelbock. Avery’s Joe’s Pils is more of an American slant on the style, but some people love it. GD’s Nomad and Hoss are around year-round now. Mama’s Lil Yella Pils is everywhere even if I don’t really care for it. New Belgium has Shift, Blue Paddle, and 1554. The 'Koop cans B3K.

Lone Tree’s Mountain Mama Helles is great and they’re now bottling certain beers, so maybe that one will be next?

Caution will be canning their Lao Wang lager (using Chinese herbs and spices) once their new facility opens in the fall.

Marble Pils is still around in cans for the time being and is terrific.

I went on this journey recently. Firestone Walker Pivo Pils is my new staple. Before that, it was Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils, Upslope Craft Lager, and Left Hand Polestar Pils.

Now that we're entering Oktoberfest season, be on the lookout for Santa Fe's canned Oktoberfest, which is really good.

Prost anything, Grimm Bros and Backcountry Maibock (some still around). The Oktoberfests are coming out now, Left Hand's is on the shelves, so is the Kaiser from Avery. Boulevard's should be out soon. Upslope has a Craft Lager, and you just missed Mexican Logger from Ska. Perhaps there are some left

Lots of love for the Upslope. Guess I need to revisit that one. I forgot all about Left Hand. In bottles they're about as good as it gets.

Only other one I'd add would be: Copper Kettle Helles (growler at brewery or around town)

Prost Dunkel is probably the best place to start. Prost's Maibock is by far my favorite though, but seasonal.

Not exactly a fan myself, but Great Divide has Nomad which hasn't been mentioned.

I do enjoy the Grimm Brothers mentions. Really enjoy their Fearless Youth dunkel, Maiden's Kis maibck (seasonal though), and in the fall they should have their Farmers Daughter marzen. Also have enjoyed the Prost beers that I have tried.

I second Copper Kettle Helles, the only German lager from America I've really liked besides anything from Grimm. Gotta disagree with anything good people say about Prost, but hey it's only one man's opinion and I'm only 12.5% German... I drink American beer almost exclusively now-a-days since there's so much innovation, quantity of great beers and it doesn't need to be imported (freshness and price) but if I wanted to drink lagers I'd stick with German beers, safe (aka delicious) bet for my tastes.

IMO the only bad thing I can say about Prost is that those growlers become dodgy well before the "drink by" dates on them. Buyer beware with those on store shelves.
However at the brewery (or on tap around town) I'd say they're comparable with the stuff Germany and among the best on American soil. I just wish this mess with Tivoli Helles would end. I'd love to see Prost offer it all the time (including bottles) and for the "other" version to full-on disappear.

Odell also has their Double Pilsner still on the shelves (for a few more weeks at least).

Yep, but Colorado is a big state (read: "Denver") and I'm not looking for a single style (read: "Pilsners") of lager. I actually looked at the thread a couple of months ago. It's not specific enough and focuses on Kölsches (not a lager) too.

Upslope and Left Hand are my go-to for bottles/cans. If you want to drink a few in a bar setting, check out Bohemian Biergarten in Boulder.

Edit: You'll find traditional German examples at the Biergarten in Boulder. It's just too great of a place not to mention to a fellow Lager fan.

Since it hasn't been mentioned, Great Divide Wolfgang is a favorite of mine.
