Looking for a regular Mortalis proxy that can ship whatever I am able to get monthly or bi monthly. C+S and a reasonable thank you box or something from the brewery. Whatever you prefer. Cheers.

I do like visiting and drinking Mortalis. They ship in NY on Mon and Tues now, too. You have to buy either 3 X 500 mls bottles or 1/2 or whole cases cans. BA releases are still line crawl only. Big knows my shipping speed is slow AF right now…

I didn’t ask you directly to begin with because I know you’re a decent distance away. Shipping speeds don’t bother me necessarily as this would be a once monthly ordeal at most. Do they not drop any BA stuff online?

Nope. That’s kind of a good thing IMO, keep that hype and scarcity up. They ship non-BA bottles in NY. They’re killing on Tavour, too…no BA. Regular things should be “easier” to get a proxy I would think. BA releases I’m usually there 5 or 6 hours in advance of the 10 AM open. Their per person limits are usually awful, 2 or 1 unless you’re super early or the release isn’t expected to be too popular.

I understand why this would be a good thing if one is trying to obtain a disproportionately valuable bottle of beer for a certain given release but I don’t particularly care about secondary values or hype and rarity. I like to try new beers for what they’re worth. Never been a whale chaser necessarily. With that being said, there’s plenty on their regular menu I’m interested in.

I’m really in the same boat. That’s why I prefer $4$. Double Pear Leto is whacko secondary, but it’s fun to think I could get a whale. Had it on tap: Not my thing. I’d be mad if I traded $400 of stuff for it. I’m still trying to get some BA As Above So Below. The base is good, but it sells crazy fast. At this point, I’m 2 Willitized and a B-Bomb Bomber into the night, so don’t pay me any mind.

LOL. I love your honesty. I had a hydra collab they did with HOMES in Ann Arbor and was blown away. That’s really what got me interested in them. I see they have a ton of fruited stuff to go at this time as well as a couple really good looking stouts. Is it to be understood they will ship right to your house given a certain volume?

Volume = home shipping, NY only. Monday and Tuesday (til noon IIRC) orders only. Essentially, the model is that people who are on site get first dibs for releases on Fridays through the weekend. Whatever is left is available Mon and Tues for NY home delivery. Whatever they have lots of or that didn’t sell well might get pushed to Tavour for some out of State sales. Collabs and tap take-overs are getting a little more common with other breweries.

Their fruited sours really are awesome. I’m stouts and barleywines all day, but even I like them. I prefer the sweet bases, e.g., berries, peach, and the like as opposed to things like passion fruit, guava, etc., but they’re all done well IMO. Froth has fruited sours, but IMO they’re still a few years away from reaching Mortalis quality…if ever. Some places never reach their potential. I’m looking at you Resurgence!

Mortalis non-BA stouts are great quality, too. They tend to be extremely thick and sub-cloyingly sweet and might have an absurd amount of crumble treatment goo at the bottom, but the flavors are always on point. The BA versions provide a “better” balance against the sweetness from the bourbon and barrel, so the drinks are still very much dessert territory but with more traditional stout sensibilities. Both Mortalis and Thin Man have their brewing skills honed IMO.

75 ish miles to Mortalis for me if I’m doing a BA line crawl. Sitting at home for Mon and Tues orders.
