Hi there! Going to be taking a trip to NYC for the first time this weekend. Going to be staying a block or two from MSG. Pretty overwhelmed in all the places in NY and wanted to get some pointers. Looking for some great local taprooms and beer bars.

    Haymaker is right there
Beer run and As Is and the Jefferey and Grand Delancey are great in Manhattan.
Brooklyn has a bunch too along with breweries. Other Half, finback, Grimm, ETNYC, Beer St, Gold Star, glorietta baldy, hops Hill.... list goes on.
Clinton gourmet for take away or Beer run.

My advice is be more specific with your likes and how much traveling in city you're willing to do and if you're looking for take away Beer at all. Threes brewing is great, but best if you enjoy lagers as an example, and it's in brooklyn.

Other Half has a pop up at Rockefeller Center, might be touristy, but with the tree and all, might be cool too.

There are like too many to list, depends on your tolerance for travelling, what you are looking for, etc. For my money The Grand Delancey is the best beer bar in Manhattan, their list is always really well curated and they get a lot of stuff no other places will usually have.

We’ll be doing mostly touristy things like Rockefeller, 9/11, and Liberty. Spending a day in Brooklyn for the Nets game so I already have OH, Finback and Grimm on the list.

Said above, but Haymaker comes to mind. A train ride from there are a bunch of places. Proletariat, Carmine, Harlem Hops, Grand Delancey are some of the best beer bars anywhere. Beer Street also, but Brooklyn is further and depends how far you want to travel.

Avoid As Is, expensive, and multiple people including myself have had bar staff steal their credit card info. Pay cash if you really want to go, or go somewhere better!

OH, Finback and Grimm are not that close to one another, but you can easily hit Threes, Wild East, Strong Rope (Gowanus), and Finback (Brooklyn) in one go. Plus they are about a 10-minute walk from Barclays Center.

Blind Tiger in Greenwich Village. Easy subway ride from MSG and also in between MSG and 9/11 Memorial.

I remember when NYC was a beer desert. West Side Brewery, the Belgium place near McSorleys and one or two others. The Manhattan Brewery.

Was West Side Brewing the one on the UWS that’s now Amsterdam Ale House?
