What’s going to end up happening is no is going to enjoy these beers because people will haggle to much and then by the time someone does make a trade it won’t be as fresh. I don’t get the negativity around these trade offers. On Ig someone posted $80 and I believe no one has taken him on his offer. The difference with ptyis that it’s only offered once a year and you can’t cellar the bottles , you have to drink sooner than later.

never had PTY but if it’s anything like Elder than i’m sure it’s beyond solid and a breath of fresh air from the NE-style IPAs that flood the market today. that said, all hops should pretty much be $4$ trades. #justsaynotowhaleipas

I can tell you it varies greatly year to year and keg to keg. I've had it times and it being amazing and other times just not worth waiting in line for 1.5 hrs at a bar only to spend $12 on an 8 ounce pour. It is hands down the best west coast triple IPA even on the not so great kegs so yes If you're in search for non NE style, you won't be disappointed.... unless someone sits on their bottles for 3 weeks before trading them.

The time a person chooses to wait for beer has zero weight in trading. Nor does travel time. The fact that it’s a 7 hour round trip to Hill Farmstead for me never factors into negotiations. If I mentioned that in a trade I’d expect the other person to tell me to get fucked.

Kind of, difficulty and availability impact someone’s willingness to trade. Lots of things drive people to spend too much on beer. Quality, investment, style, on tap (already tried), it’s from St. Louis ;-). Man made his offer, easy enough to just ignore it if I don’t agree.

I’m not responding to/disagreeing with the offer one way or another. I wasn’t replying to OP. I’m responding to a person who suggested they are waiting 8 hours for the beer (to trade or otherwise) as a factor in its “worth.” That’s their choice. That doesn’t factor in a negotiation imo. Can I quote my gas money in a trade negotiation?

Don’t let @Rustytacos hear that. Apparently I was wrong for having the same opinion as you... :unamused:

Exactly...The value will keep going down because of the shorter shelf life. Most of us, myself included, want to just try it just to tell our friends we've had it.

Should my wife be worried or should take as a compliment that you think about me?
