    Greetings all,

Looking for suggestions on a nice smooth Session IPA Recipe.

    Here are my thoughts:

    - Had a few that tasted bitter on the back end, so lower on IBUs or at least different, more 'citrusy' hops (my all time favorite is Cascade, which I will probably dry hop with).
    - Had a few that tasted a bit like Seltzer. Sure, low ABV, but I can dilute a regular IPA with club soda and get a similar result. Not really what I'm looking for though.
    - Looking to get ABV around 3.8% (definitely no more than 4%).
    - I'm doing fermenting bucket & carboy (for now), so really simple would be better, but I am not against doing an all grain. It'll just take some extra work / ingenuity.

So, I am open to any and all ideas.
I hope this will be a WIP until I get one down that I really like.

    Thanks all!

    Cheers!

    Alex

I would say keeping this recipe relatively simple is the way to go. Something like

    OG-1.040
    FG -1.011
    IBU-60

    80% 2-row
    10% Vienna
    5% C60
    5% GNO

Should get you about a 6 SRM and a fairly good mouthfeel. I like S-04 for this, it clears nicely. A grain bill of about 8 pounds total should get you close to 4% ABV.

I like Columbus a lot, so a mix of Cascade and Columbus with hop additions starting at 20 minutes is how I would go. Really big hop additions late in the boil and then heavy whirpool and dry hop additions. Maybe 6oz total.

Just a quick 5 minute recipe you can play around with.
