Pelly's liquors on N. Lincoln Ave had like 8 bottles the other day. I considered buying one to give it a try, but held off. Sounds like I made the right decision?

The beer smells quite good. My advice is to pour some to smell, and drink something else.

Rogue has zero say in how many cases a store has to buy.

Smart move on the distributor's part though, eh? Rogue did force sale by the case at least during the initial release of the beer.

I may have to investigate this whole scenario further. Interesting facts have come to light.

I like how Rogue has tried to push this beer faster than people can realize it's garbage. Stay classy, Rogue

I was told by the employee at my local Binnys that does all the beer ordering that this is what they were told. Whether it be the distrubutor or Rogue putting the lock down, not sure. But I do know one of the two, or both, are stuck with a lot of beer very few people want.

At the individual store level (esp cross country) it is almost certainly the distributor to blame. My guess is that they bought too much and now can't get rid of it, this are forcing stores to buy it in bulk. In Columbus I have heard of distributors forcing stores to buy unwanted new or average product in order to have the rights to get a few cases of something more desirable. This is also likely common all over.

I can't speak for every store, but I was quoted a five case minimum by someone from the brewery. Whether the distributors are holding to that, I don't know.

My distro rep had no idea such a deal was going down at all, as though the brewery were just bypassing the distributor altogether...which is definitely what it sounded like to me...

Stopped at 2 stores today and both had 3 cases. Not sure if they just got in today and will move fast or if there is less demand here. Unfortunately for OP, I'm in Gurnee, about as far from Joliet as you can get. If you can't get up this far soon but plan on making it up to Six Flags or somewhere else up here, let me know and I'll pick you up a bottle! Not sure what the price was elsewhere, but it was $12.99 at both places up here.

Whole Foods - LP had a bunch. Picked one up out of curiousity.

Great beer in theory- who doesn't love maple glazed donuts and a bucket of bacon- but as a beer? WTF.

Regardless if you think this beer is awful, decent, or good, you should check out Voodoo Donuts if you are doing a beer trip/voyage to Portland. That was the inspiration for this beer, and is very well worth a destination if you are visiting the area.

No doubt, the beer has in no way diminished my desire to check out Voodoo Donuts if I am ever out that way.

I just picked one up, gotta find some others to share with so I'm not feelin bad if I need to dispose of it in a way other than emptying it down the gullet!

Of course, once you buy and drink the gawd awful crap, you have to figure out what to do with the bottle that won't get you arrested for creating a municipal eyesore - public dumps have their standards, too

I'm waiting for the $6.99 clearance sale. I do enjoy it but it's no $13/bomber.
