I was about to post in the trading forums and instead of listing what I'm in search of I just thought it would be easier to link to my wants. I was wondering though if this could be seen as auctioning or requesting offers. I see people do it but was just curious if it's frowned upon.

I personally avoid those sorts of trades. I know a lot of people do not, so I don't think there is a consensus but things like FT:List, ISO: List. or FT:Gots ISO:Wants just don't sit right with me.

I've had a couple bad experiences, again, personally, where I chose a couple Wants for a couple gots, and got back responses basically saying I got a better offer. I'd rather stick to trades where it's clearly ISO: X, Y. FT: A,B.

Other people's mileage may vary, but I think when your able to narrow things down and actual put up a focused ISO:FT, it usually works out better. If you were worried about offering too much/too little, you'll know right away. And it's just beer in the end.

That's what I was thinking. Glad I asked.

That's a great question. I've done the it with ISO: specific beer FT: list or vice versa, and haven't had any problems. if its frowned upon I'd like to know; want to be a good BA'er! Thanks!

Easier for you, harder for everyone else. I would think you are much less likely to receive responses.

I'll be honest, if I see threads that link to a Wants list, 99% of the time I will pass over it. It's really rather ridiculous to look through someone's hundreds of Wants... If you list out a handful of options right in your post, that's fine. If you're putting 50+ beers in your post, I'll pass over it then too.

generally I do :list because one can't fit 3-5 beers in a subject line. I do agree, links to want lists is a pain.

To me it depends on what you have FT. If the FT is something I really want I don't mind taking the extra 90 seconds and going through someone's wants.
