I've not heard much in regards to Italy being known for beer. However, I'm headed there in a few months and wonder if anyone knows of any gems in the northern part of Italy where I can find some good beer? I'll let the missus enjoy the wine, I want something better.....
I found this book helpful and an interesting read: http://www.italybeercountry.com/ http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ountry-the-story-of-italian-craft-beer.165868 Not sure where you're going, but here is my trip report from last year: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/italy-trip-report-venice-bologna-rome.198855/
I'm heading to the Veneto for 8 days at the start of July...any info would be extremely helpful, Thanks.
I found Italy to have a incredible beer scene and enjoyed it more than Belgium in terms of meeting people and talking craft beer. Not every beer is great but there are some very good breweries that create some excellent brews. My advice is bring some local beers to share with the bartenders and the locals and I guarantee you will have a incredible time. IPA's are popular but they don't have great hop access and any IPA from the US is already losing it flavor by the time it is shipped. Basically bring the fresh stuff. Enjoy
