Is this worth seeking out? Isn't their Excelsior stuff suppose to be a step above. I know their wild ales are scarce and in demand
Had Twelve, Thirteen, and Fourteen. Each was solid but unspectacular. I've seen White Gold kicking around again recently, too. Worth a try, but I wouldn't recommend loading up on any non-sour Excelsiors until you see how much you dig it.
Don't really care much about Ithaca's tick-tastic beers, but fresh Flower Power is "scarce and in demand" in the Boston area. There was a 5 month window last year where it seemed we were consitently getting it around 2 weeks old. Now in the rare event I even see it, it's usually 3 or 4 months old. Many moons ago Ithaca had an active sales rep in the New England area - used to chime in on BA, hold tastings, work with distributors & retailers, etc. Looks like they could use another one (as could most out-of-area breweries).
I use to look for Flower Power. But with Larry, Be Hoppy, Hoponious, and Mass Rising, there are much better local IPA/DIPA.
Doubt that - usually fresh FP sells out very quickly to hopheads. IMO FP is far superior to local/NE options that are available at a reasonable price point. More likely the problem is their insistence on stores carrying the rest of Ithaca's mediocre line (apricot wheat, nut brown, etc) that languish. And to your original point why the limited beers are sporadic around here....
Probably best to leave it here since we're talking about them in context of what sees distribution to MA.
