No, not from your post. Just the general topic of adjunct lagers as they pertain to craft beer drinkers.

Absolutely, when the mood strikes or there is a purpose for it. There is a time and place for it. If I am going out with some friends and need a cheap, easy drinking, simple to find drink, this is it for me. Sometimes Bud Light. It all depends on my mood or my purpose for that night. As someone said in this post, and I completely agree:

Double Like!. I LOVE adjunct lagers! Why buy BMC products? My money goes to Schell, Straub, or other regional breweries that sell a much more superior beer of it's style!

I havent read through this entire thread to see if this point has been made, so forgive me if it is repetitive.

BMC, or the big three, get a lot of hate. The hate generates largely from two branches.

    1. Disdain for the actual taste of the beers

    2. Disdain for their business practices.

The first grievance is largely a byproduct of the second one. But first, let's explain that second grievance in some detail.

The craft industry is unique in that it's a massive industry where competition is certainly present, but breweries develop symbiotic relationships and collaborate on products-- something which is unimaginable for chain restaurants or any other large retailers or companies in the US. Sure Taco Bell will make a frozen Mountain Dew smoothie but that's because both sides see $$$ from making the deal, and anyways they're not even in the same market (fast food/soft drink). The largest craft brewers are certainly driven by profit because that allows them to expose their product further but they are also concerned with the wellbeing of the industry as a whole. For example Sierra Nevada teamed up with 12 others breweries just to release one collective product! Can you think of another example in American consumerism where that has been done?

BMC has no interest in this. In fact they do the opposite. They eat up competition like Rolling Rock and PBR and Blue Moon among many others as you all know. The result of this is portraying them as "evil" companies, which I kind of agree with. There are the same as a Walmart or Exxon Mobile to me.

But that does mean they make shitty beers? Not necessarily. Being the biggest companies with the most money and resources they have the capacity to make beer cheap simply because of operating in bulk and using advanced technology to produce on a mass scale. But they aren't purposely going to make a shitty beer just because they're money hungry. They're going to make the best tasting beer for the least possible price. That just makes sense. Just because they're a money hungry corporation doesn't mean they're going to make dirty swill just to spite us purebred drinkers. Many of the BMC beers have won plenty of awards for a reason, because they're being judged by objective and impartial judges. I enjoy a few BMC type beers, especially with something like pizza. Most notably Dos Equis Amber and regular Busch. It is what it is.

Many BA's search out BMC, just take a look at the lines for Bourbon County on black Friday.

As far as I'm concerned. Drinkign fermented yellow corn water is perfectly fine. However, supporting ABinbev or MillerCoors is not something I want to do, so I abstain completely. This is simply a personal choice of mine and I have no judgment against those that choose otherwise.

Anheuser-Busch bought Rolling Rock from InBev (then, like now, the largest brewery in the world by volume), Blue Moon was a brand created by Coors in 1995 and Pabst is now an independent company unrelated to/never "eaten up" by AB or MC.

Pabst was bought by Heileman in 1982 and immediately "spit out" - spun-off as a new Pabst, missing a few brands [Lone Star, Henry Weinhard, etc] and a few breweries [in Portland, Texas, Georgia]). 3 years later, Pabst was bought by the S&P Corporation and eventually folded into their portfolio of brewing companies - General, Falstaff, Pearl. But Heileman and S&P were the competitors of "BMC".

I feel like that may have been the intention of the OP, but people are still taking thinly veiled jabs at BMC, and people who enjoy those beers, throughout this entire thread while still claiming they're not that kind of BA. It's pretty silly.

Drink what you like is the only thing which makes sense if beer is for enjoyment.
That's why I have little interest in the Top 250 or whatever; other people's judgements don't necessarily coincide with my own preferences."Good" beer is another way of describing "the beer I like" ; to most people BMC is "good beer" and if we call it swill we are massively outvoted.

Brand loyalty is often a reason consumers prefer one product over another. I can recall a certain demographic who perceived themselves to be "Billy Badasses" to exclusively drink Budweiser.

John, you asked is "The reality is that the vast majority of beer drinkers worldwide prefer light colored and light flavored beers." true.

I highly recommend you read this thread: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...ro-lagers-if-they-were-the-same-price.229174/

Its not that I just dislike when people buy and drink BMC brews. Its more don't understand if someone enjoys beer, why not venture out to other breweries and beer styles that actually taste good. Not just drink it to get drunk, that's what the hard stuff is for. Its like saying "I enjoy a McDonald's beef so I am only going to eat McDonald's burgers". Without a second thought about the higher quality restaurants/better ways to enjoy beef out there.

I go to the gym regularly, eat clean, and do a bunch of other healthy stuff all the time, that being said, I also like cheesesteaks and lorenzos, and Dinics pork sandos, and tailgating and PBR and band practice. I can't reach for an IIPA or some choc porter every time I'm in a social setting, not only do i not want to but sometimes you just can't. plus band practice with 10% quads is a bad idea, I'm sure of it!

On the flip side of this, I love a great wagyu steak, but also love a dirty Big Mac from time to time.

There's a lot of contrasts on both sides. For me personally, it's very rare that I would actually buy an AAL, not because it's macro-produced but because there are better products out there. In Canada, there is also the issue that there is not much gulf in the price between some craft and BMC. I am not above drinking it, and in restaurants with a crappy beer selection I will order BMC and enjoy them. Just not as much as some craft.

The other thing creeping in is that if you do not like BMC/AAL's, you must be some kind of try hard hipster. Some people just genuinely don't like the taste. I would wager that some people try hard to not like them but not everyone.

I dunno. My Catholic guilt is kicking in… I'd better wait until I hear for sure what Uncle Garrett has to say.
Yeah! And doesn't that guy have a Civet-dropping and peppercorn-infused variation of w00tStout coming out, soon?

Ah well. Y'all will excuse me as I go an' wash these spicy pork rinds down with a Belgian triple...

I think its okay for everyone to drink whatever they want, it doesn't affect me.

That being said, if my only options to drink are BMC and nothing, I choose nothing. If I want a cheap twelve pack to drink with friends I pick up whatever Sierra Nevada seasonal is out because I like my beer to taste like something.
